Two days ago, I received a letter from the University of Pittsburgh informing me that they were unable to offer me admission to their Arts & Sciences program. I was disappointed because this college is my top choice and I really want to attend their main campus. I have already been accepted to Penn State University Park so I figured I would be good enough to get into Pitt's main campus. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. But I wasn't about to give up.

I emailed the office of admissions seeking reconsideration and if my request is accepted, they will notify me on what additional information they will want me to send in. This will most likely be mid-year grades and new SAT/ACT scores. Currently, my cumulative GPA is a 4.09 (I don't know the 4.0-scale equivalent). And, if my grades stand, my mid-year grades will definitely boost my cumulative GPA because I have received a 4.4, 4.4, 4.5, and 4.6 in this 1st half of the school year, in a schedule which includes one AP and one Honors level class. I also registered for the upcoming ACT test on February 12th. I have a bunch of questions now....

-Is it too late to have registered for the ACT? In short, is the February 12th testing date too late for them to make a decision for me?
-What is the success rate of those who request for reconsideration? Is it good or bad?

Although Penn State University Park is a great school, I really want to attend their Main Campus. I know I sound so desperate in this forum post but I just want to know. Please help me. Thank you.
