University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing (Undergraduate)

Hey everybody! I was recently accepted into University of Pittsburgh’s School of Nursing for next fall, and I have done a lot of my own research into the school. I know that their graduate programs are often nationally ranked (US News lists Pitt Nursing in the top 10), but as much digging as I did, I could not find the average statistics of those admitted into their bachelor’s program. I have not been able to locate a class profile solely for the School of Nursing; the ones I have found included the average stats of all freshmen students together. That being said, would anyone happen to know the competitiveness of Pitt’s School of Nursing/the stats of admitted freshmen?

All in all, I have heard great things about Pitt nursing and feel very honored to be accepted!

Congrats hemiways! I have a bit of the statistics for nursing, as I applied for that program as well. I visited Pitt and they gave me statistics for the class of 2020, which was an SAT score ranging from 1210-1340 and an ACT score ranging from 27-31.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats like? I would love to be accepted, but my SAT score was 10 points below that margin.

Congrats @hemingways !! I have also applied for the nursing program for next fall and I am anxiously awaiting the decision. I read the other day that their program has only about 130-140 students in it per class so based on the number of students in each class, I’d say it’s fairly competitive. I hope to see both you and @NursingMan next fall

@NursingMan Of course! My SAT was a 1390, which would’ve been about a 31 ACT, and I have a 4.2 GPA.

@alliestaman22 Thank you, and best of luck to you as well during this college app season!

Btw is Pitt both your guys’ first choice? And are you in state or out of state?

Oh I failed to mention some concordance tables have shown that my SAT converts to a 30 also. So more accurately it’s 30-31. Depending on the table/website you use.

I have sophomore in the nursing program. Back when we visited 2 years ago, we were told that for the class of 2018, the average SAT was 1321. They get 1000+ applications, accept about 330 and between 120 - 130 enroll. I’m sure the numbers might have changed a little in the last 2 years, but this gives you an idea.

@hemingways Pitt is my first choice and I’m out of state, though I have family who lives in Pennsylvania.

@RyanG1207 Okay thank you so much! How does your sophomore like it?

@alliestaman22 I’m out of state as well! Let me know when you get in! We could be future classmates :stuck_out_tongue:

I definitely will! I know that the accept/decline button on the Pitt mobile app isn’t technically an indication, but I logged into it last night and saw them so I’m hoping to hear tomorrow or Tuesday (fingers crossed). My stats are very similar to yours though so I’m thinking good thoughts

I’m waiting to see if I will be accepted as I applied on Sept. 4th to the nursing program. It’s my first choice and I think I have a good chance since my SAT was 1410. When you got accepted was it a letter or an email?

@katiestutzman6 hey there! I got my acceptance by email; however, they said that an official letter was coming through the mail too. Are you in state or out of state?

I just got my email yesterday! I got accepted! I’m in state.

Hey congrats on getting into your first choice! I’m from out of state.

I finally received the email of acceptance! I’m from OOS (DE)

@alliestaman22 Yay that’s awesome! Nursing here we come! Do you plan to enroll or are you applying elsewhere too? :stuck_out_tongue:

@hemingways I think I’m going to accept because it is my number one choice, but I’m going to sit on it for a few days/weeks just to be sure!

@alliestaman22 Sure thing, this is super exciting! Oh and I’ve been noticing that there are a lot of intended nursing majors in these Pitt College Confidential forums. I don’t know if its just by coincidence, but we are everywhere! It’s great

@hemingways I have noticed a lot of nursing majors which is definitely exciting! Is Pitt your number one or are you applying other places?

Don’t forget that the FAFSA for 2018/19 opens October 1 if you need financial aid or student loans.

Anyone know if they starting sending out acceptances to the guaranteed admission programs for the graduate nursing school yet? I received my acceptanceemail last Monday and a letter Thursday but in it there was no say of GAP or honors college.
