We’d love to hear any tips or recommendations you can share for people planning their URichmond visit!

  • Visited in mid-July 2022 (very hot & buggy the day we toured!)
  • Stayed at an AirBnB near Carytown (would recommend if anyone wants the name in PM)
  • Restaurant we enjoyed the most: Les Crepes in Carytown
  • Drove; easy to find parking in every section of city we went and on campus; every place we went felt safe
  • Everyone on campus was friendly and seemed happy; guides talked about friends in all sorts of majors and activities.
  • Dorms seemed like typical freshman dorms; we saw upperclassmen housing at a distance but didn’t tour.
  • Must-see things around campus: the spinning globe in the middle of the international center courtyard, the lake, the brand-new wellness center, gorgeous steeples, and spider designs (their mascot) everywhere.
  • Overall, we loved the campus and the friendliness. Campus is not downtown (in suburbs) but there is easy access to different parts of the city. We already knew a lot about the educational opportunities, so our visit was focused on the campus vibe and learning about the area.

We also toured Washington & Lee and UVA during the same trip, using an AirBnB near Lexington for W&L and then hitting UVA on our way home (same day as morning W&L tour).

We visited last March for the preview Richmond day.
Stayed at the Courtyard Scott’s Addition. Was nice newer Marriott.
It was March Madness time, we ate over at the Wood an Iron (Lots of TVs and good pub food)
We drove
Beautiful campus, students looked genuinely happy. Buildings and grounds were immaculate

I think my S23 liked it more than he thought he would. Close enough to downtown Richmond where you could easily get in to hang out

Facilities are nice toured the library, student center, rec center (the salt room!).

Loved the focus on undergrad research.

Visited with daughter this past July. We stayed 20 minutes Northwest in Short Pump, lots to do! Suburban Campus was beautiful with brick buildings, lake, and greenery/trees. Daughter liked look of the campus more than UNC and Wake Forest which we also visited on that trip.Welcome Center and attention to detail during presentation & tour was top notch. Bonus was application fee waiver emailed after visit. Really liked the new wellness center and the unique student center on lake. Planning to attend accepted student day next month to help her make decision vs local & Northeast schools.
