Hello!
Richmond is like my dream school amd I was wondering if I have a chance for admission. Here are my stats:
ACT: 35 Composite
AP: AP Human Geography (5), AP Biology (5), APUSH, AP Chem, AP Lang, and AP Euro
Senior Schedule: Ap lit, Ap Calc AB and BC, Honors personal finance and economics, AP Gov
Clubs: HOSA (health science club)- leadership council one year and president another, Honors English Society, Mu Alpha Theta- secretary and now president, Beta Club, Student Council, Swim Team- letter all 4 years
Awards- 2nd place in regional poetry contest 2 years in a row, 6th place at regional math contest, 1st place regional Biology contest, for HOSA vet science I have placed: 1st place regional; 1st, 3rd, and 5th place state (different years); 6th place international’s ( going again this year too)
Service: over 300 hours working with a veterinarian at a local animal shelter; for a year my family and I trained a service dog; also do various service activities with clubs
Rank: At least top 5, most likely valedictorian
Other: I will most likely be NMSF and (hopefully) NMF, my writing will be good for my applications and I will have solid recommendations. I also lifeguard at a local pool during the summer.
Thanks! Also, could I be eliglble for the Richmond Scholars?
@animallover45 If you apply ED, I can say with almost certainty you would get in.
I’m not sure about Richmond Scholars, but it’s worth giving it a shot.
I applied Regular Decision, was then waitlisted, and subsequently got in off the waitlist.
Here are my stats:
SAT: 1410 (640 ERW/770 Math)
GPA: 3.7 weighted (all four years)
SAT IIs: Math Level 2 - 760
APs: I took AP Physics 1 and AP English Lang Junior year. I got 2’s on both and didn’t send them.
Senior year schedule: English 12, AP Calc AB, AP Stats, AP Italian, Honors Engineering, Forensic Science
Clubs: Yearbook Club (Editor-in-Chief), Math Team
Service: 60 hours at a retirement home, 40 hours tutoring high school students in Algebra II/Trigonometry
Rank: 67/100. I attend a top 50, all-boys, college-preparatory private day school
I assume your unweighted GPA is high because your class rank is, but what is it?
Is U Richmond affordable? Have you run the NPC?
I can’t chance you but you have an impressive record. If you need Richmond Scholars to make the school affordable, then it is a reach as only 25 are awarded.
A complicating factor is that students don’t find out about Richmond Scholars until late Jan or Feb, so if you do need that to attend, consider applying EA rather than ED. If the NPC looks affordable then ED makes sense.
Lastly if you get NMF, there are many schools you could attend with significant and guaranteed scholarships, so do some research on that. Good luck.
These kinds of schools, there can be an element of mystery in who they end up accepting. You have every reason to feel good about applying but no one can really assure you of anything.
As previous suggested, make sure this is an affordable choice either because you have the money or you would qualify for enough aid. Best of luck!
