Thanks @pinkspider17 that is good to know! Congratulations on your acceptance!!
First of all, congrats to all ED and Scholars admits! That’s fantastic.
I applied RD and will be on Spring break during the last week of March, when acceptances have traditionally been released via mail. I’ll be visiting family in, of all places, Richmond. If I’m not home when my acceptance (ideally) letter arrives, should I be able to go to the admissions office at UR in person and ask about my status?
My grandparents that live there have been lobbying for me to attend UR for as long as I can remember and we’ve always enjoyed eating lunch in the dining hall or simply walking around campus. Obviously I could wait until I got back, but my trip would be much more enjoyable if I knew about getting admitted while only a few minutes from the school…
@sweendog I think they might tell you, can’t hurt to ask!!
Thank you @cavs4lf good luck to you!
@sweendog I would call admissions while you’re in Richmond and ask if they would be willing to tell you over the phone or if you scheduled a meeting or something. I’m betting they won’t mind.
FYI to those waiting to hear RD. I called admissions today about registering for their Experience RIchmond dates in Pril as there was no link to register in my D’s ED admission packet, just a list of dates. She told me it would not be available online till early next wk when RD notices come out. (she registered us on the phone for those already accepted) It sounded like they were having it ready online monday so maybe you will hear sooner?
@PeregrineFlute She woman who registered us said there was no difference in the Experience Richmond program, it will be the same program on all 3 dates.
@cloudysmom thank you for the update! Seems like RD will be released next week! Hopefully transfers will come soon after that!!
Thank you @cloudysmom for calling and informing everybody of what you have heard. I apologize for insinuating that there was a difference in the programs; I just assumed that the 22nd was a bigger event because on the pamphlet they sent, it was in… the biggest font! And the other 2 dates were listed as, “Can’t make it? Come on this day or this day instead!” Anyway, the programming should be the exact same as was pointed out. Thanks everyone.
@PeregrineFlute when my brother attended the Experience Richmond event he went to the weekend one. I think that is the most popular because it is on the weekend and more people tend to come stay and visit UR then!
@PeregrineFlute No need to apologize for sharing information! And if the transfers have found out by then, then the last one probably will be the biggest! The 10th is during my D’s spring break so she doesn’t have to miss school, so we’ll probably go then. They said it’s 8-4:00.
is it bad if I ask to add a letter of rec now?
@neutopschool I am pretty sure its too late to ask to add one now, RD decisions will be coming out very soon.
also, do they look at interest, I visited and did an alumni interview, but I didn’t keep in touch with my counselor much. Is that not good?
@rvalover7 Thank you for your input, but after thinking about it for a couple days, a tuition of $46K (that’s $63K-17K with the presidential scholarship) is not worth it for us. We don’t qualify so FA so my daughter, at this point, will be attending one of our fine state schools which has the total cost, with merit money, 20K.
@neutopschool My D never visited or did an interview & still got in so I wouldn’t worry about it!
@neutopschool You’ll be fine. The alumni interviews are strictly for information about you being a fit in your eyes for the school. It is a chance for you to get to know Richmond, not for them to judge you and put it in your application file. You can confirm this by looking in the Common Data Set. It will tell you which parts of the application they value the most.
@momoffive I understand. I wish your D luck wherever she is going! I completely understand was well. I don’t qualify for FA so if I am accepted I will be taking out personal loans. Its definitely an investment. My other two brothers both got in and decided on state schools and were more than thrilled with their decisions
@rvalover7 Thank you!! It looks like Rutgers Honors Program for my daughter. We are from NJ and she really didn’t want to be that far from home anyway. University of Richmond is a beautiful, outstanding school. Enjoy it and good luck!!!
@rvalover7 @cloudysmom thank you so much, I’m very worried about the rest of my schools right now since I got rejected from 1 yesterday.
Which schools are you waiting on & what do you think of your chances? I assume some are safeties? Sorry about your rejection, I know that’s rough.
@cloudysmom I got into university of miami, catholic (safety), clemson (safety), and UCONN storrs (safety)
Im waiting on Richmond, lafayette, GW, union, and villanova
