Has anyone received information on merit aid?
Where did you find information on the scholarship? I didn’t see anything in my packet even though my regional admissions rep said it was very likely that I would receive a scholarship. I have a 1590 and 3.9 GPA and I’m a nationally recognized writer who was published in Best Teen Writing of 2017. I’m bummed because my family doesn’t qualify for financial aid but can’t afford Richmond’s full tuition. It looks like I’ll be forced to pass up my acceptance, which is really sad for me because Richmond was my top choice.
My son got the envelope today in Tennessee and was accepted with Presidential Scholarship (3.9 unweighted, 33 ACT). Had the exact same wording on his letter as @futurebum “commendable academic achievement, impressive writing ability and strong interests that would add richness to our community.”
Scholarship also offers $500 travel grant, which is something we haven’t gotten anywhere else. We’ll have to figure out how to take advantage of that for our visit.
Accepted!
GPA: 3.8 (top 10% of class)
SAT: 1480
Okay amount of ECs and pretty strong essays.
Showed a decent amount of interest
Accepted with a 1470 SAT and 4.3 weighted gpa. Good luck to everyone!
Reallyfcknervous, You may be a Richmond Scholar finalist so you wouldn’t have heard yet.
has anyone who was able to log into the deposit page been rejected or deferred?
Reallyfcknervous my D didn’t get info on Presidential Scholarship either and she has 35 ACT, 4.5 GPA (weighted) and is National Merit Semifinalist. I agree with LMHLAW3 that maybe they are Richmond Scholar finalists and that’s why no info was included on merit aid.
Congrats to everyone so far who has received admission! If you have any questions, feel free to message me. I hope you all will tour UR/attend accepted students’ day and see what a great place it is to go to school!
Nymom9990 I think that you are probably correct.
Anyone get a letter in Florida?
Accepted with presidential scholarship. 3.8 unweighted, 33 ACT, strong extracurriculars and essays @futurebum I got the same thing about what they liked about me…
Has anyone else not gotten a decision letter yet and feels like they should’ve? I live in Va, around an hour and a half from UR. Friends that live 30 minutes away from me have gotten their letters, and I still haven’t. I am frustrated but may call the admissions office tomorrow to make sure there were no problems with my application.
My D was admitted - we’re in Georgia and she has a 4.0 and 35 ACT. She really loves UR, so I think it’s near the top of her list. But, no scholarship offer so not sure about the finances. Does anyone know if not getting the presidential means she’s not in the running for any others?
daughter was accepted today 4.6 GPA, 8 AP’s, 1st in class very tough private school in NC. 1420 SAT,/32 ACT
great EC’s including national writing awards, theater, editor of literary magazine, NMS commended, HOBY, several leadership awards… This was her first acceptance with no mention of a merit award at all? Richmond was very high on her list so we are hoping this means Richmond Scholar candidate possibly, but geez I see the posts on here and feel like so many are super qualified and deserving of this. Guess it’s more waiting for us!.
I got deferred- 31 ACT 4.4 Weighted GPA/ 3.8 Unweighted GPA
Deferred 1480 SAT 3.2 Unweighted GPA, lots of EC’s. Hopefully I’ll get in next round!
Those of you who were deferred were you able to access the deposit page?
We also thought it a little strange how the merit offers work at Richmond. At four other good schools the merit was 25-30 thousand/year and it seemed relatively clear that it was related to stats.
We are not surprised exactly that she did not have any mention of merit whatsoever, 33 ACT 3.85, but more surprised that others with even higher stats also have nothing mentioned.
Just a little weird.
Hey guys. Just going to throw out some stuff out there in case it is unclear:
Even if you have the Presidential scholarship, you are not taken out of the running from the Richmond Scholars program (full tuition+). Conversely, if you are selected as a finalist (some time from now) but not a recipient, you’ll AT LEAST be guaranteed a Presidential as compensation (for those that didn’t get the Presidential just by itself).
Also, all of you deferred applicant, I’m going to echo the cry to keep your hopes high; this being the first year for EA, I’m sure many of you will be picked up by the RD round. UR has no concrete evidence as to how this is going to turn out yet with EA yields and the number of people applying RD for their first try, so I’m sure they’re just being on the safe side.
I’m just a freshman here, but still feel free to PM me if you think I can help.
Best of luck.
