Has anyone been notified that they are a Richmond Scholar semifinalist? If so, what are your stats? They say they notify until the end of January but I’m getting a little nervous.
I got selected as a semifinalist. Anybody knows when the finalists are announced?
I’m hoping that it’s rolling notification based on when applications were submitted. We have not heard anything yet… application submitted 11/30.
Finalist notifications are also sent in batches. They wait until your mid-year report arrives and they can review it, since with the finalist notification comes the official notification of admittance. I was notified 2/19 last year with a 1/12 semifinals notification. I was one of the later ones. I believe they start announcing in february (all semifinalists must have been notified), with all notifications done by early march (it may be the end of february, i dont remember). Artist scholar finalists had their live auditions around March 14th (with travel arranged by March 3).

@hsenior3746 My stats were not that impressive, but my essay was pretty good. GPA 3.7 ACT 29. URM. I’m from Virginia and I have a lot of leadership experience. I submitted 12/1 and I have yet to finish my1st semester, so hopefully my grades stay strong.
My essay was not very good (I actually made major revisions before sending the essay to other colleges). I am an international student, so no GPA. I think I got selected because of my scores. SAT: 2320 (composite: 1570).
So I am guessing that this will be it. I think people have said in the past that there are only two batches, what do you guys think?

@mxl2015 No, there were at least 3 batches last year.
@momother All Richmond Scholars notifications are done by email (unless they change anything from last year), with the exception of final notification of whether you receive the scholarship, which is a phone call.
Anyone who is a semi-finalist and also accepted in the ED round? Can you still log into your my app? It doesn’t let me anymore.
WOW! good thing we checked here. emailed counselor yesterday, she sent in mid term grades and my son got the email this morning for Richmond Scholars! Turn around is really fast. All stuff is due, Jan. 19th.

Did you recieve ite notification through your (parent) email or your son’s email? I have been recieving email from UR in my email, but would they send something like this to the parent’s? Also, do we need to have mid term grades in to qualify for the scholars program? My school doesn’t have them yet.
@ZBD5421 my exams are not until next week. Will that be a problem?
Per UR Admissions: They do NOT need mid-year grades to process Scholars application. They understand that some schools don’t have them completed for yet.
