University of Richmond Transfer Students, Fall 2019

after what basically amounted to a week of me haunting the mailroom, I got my acceptance letter today! so excited!

My son applied as a fall transfer. He received an email today saying he was accepted. We haven’t received the acceptance package yet. The email was from Nadine. In the last section it said look forward to seeing you in the spring. Did anyone else get this? I assume it’s a form letter email and the spring reference is just a mistake. Any other transfers going on 4/13/19 to visit?

For those wondering about stats. My son is a freshman at Penn State in the honors program. 3.6 first semester, 4.0 midterm grades this semester (submitted). 3.6/4.0 not weighted in a college prep high school. We are from Massachusetts. Strong essay and recommendations. No legacy, not URM.
Accepted as a transfer student!

Congrats @illeteratemoron and @kdgw2020! There’s a good chance I’ll be visiting on the weekend of the 13th, maybe I’ll see you there!

Can’t go to the event on the 13th- flying down is a big commitment and I’m probably going to just visit when I’m back in VA for the summer. Anyone have any luck activating that transfer credit evaluation? It says my account can’t be activated yet.

@BrianWithAWhy My son will be driving to U of R on 4/12 from Penn State. Not sure how far that is from you. I think I read you are in PA.

Hi, I applied to URichmond as a transfer applicant and still have not heard back. I thought decisions were coming out today (April 15th)? Is it a bad sign that I have not heard yet?

I called them because I didn’t get a decision on April 15th either, and they said that they will be releasing a second set of decisions in early May

being an international student, i got ‘rejected’ from University of Richmond. They said : "Please know the Admission Committee took great care in reviewing your application and was impressed with your achievements; however, because we are need-aware for non-U.S. citizens and committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need, we are not able to offer you admission and financial aid at this time.

If funds become available for your remaining years of study prior to May 1, please submit the International Financial Certification in the minimum amount of $74,290 to intladm@richmond.edu. Once the university receives your International Financial Certification form, it may consider extending you an offer of admission if space is available."

I wanted to post this just to say how fortunate some of you are. Given the recent college scandal, it really is your $$$ that defines you.

@earlyfactions Its always difficult to not get what you want. I’m sure you have affordable options and that this dissapointment will be a small blip in your overall life.

All colleges have lines they must draw when it comes to finances. No one wants to be a school that has to fold because they can’t afford to stay in business. UR is transparent on its need-aware policy for international students. When my eldest and middle were applying to college, we made sure that every college they applied to was within reach for us financially whether within budget full-pay, probable merit and or financial aid. Both applied to some need-aware, meets full needs schools and were waitlisted at all of them. It’s a bummer but none of those schools OWED our kids an education. Thankfully, with a carefully made application list, they got good offers and both chose Richmond, who has been very good to them.

If you choose to define yourself financially, you can do that but not a choice we would make.

I got my acceptance letter today! Do I get another letter about financial aid?
