•University of Rochester RD Class of 2020•

My D got an email asking if she wanted to apply for the Simon Scholars Case scholarship but she chose not to apply as this is a business type of scholarship and she is not interested in pursuing a business degree.

@liv101 it’s a glitch that they let everyone onto the site but actually it should be by email invite only

@porcupine98 Just going by how other colleges (e.g. Tulane) release decisions, I’m guessing you’re correct that it starts with acceptances. However, I think the high applicant strength is due to CC’s skew towards high-stat students.

So I’ve been on the committee stage (stage 4) for a month or two. Does anyone have an idea what this could mean? I was worried when I wasn’t in the first round, especially because I’ve been stuck at the last step for SO long.

@leyla98 I have also been on stage 4 for a while. I honestly don’t think it means anything. It’s still pretty early on. On my school’s naviance graph I am in the region where no one has ever been rejected. Now, I could obviously still get rejected-each year is different and Naviance does not take into account many factors considered in hollistic admissions. That being said, I feel like I have a good shot at Rochester (not a guarantee) and I do not think being stuck in stage 4 (for now anyways) is a sign of anything one way or another.

Good attitude, @NICE8x. I think the Naviance program is very helpful for the type of information you just described when comparing yourself to others from your own school who have been accepted or denied.

I know it’s early still but did anyone who was accepted RD get their financial aid package (other than scholarship info) yet?

@amy989 I didn’t submit anything extra and didn’t do the interview (mostly because I didn’t know they offered one oops) but I got my decision Friday so idk

@caty122333 Congratulations on getting in! I am under the impression that the chances of admissions fall if a student does not do the interview but maybe that’s more for borderline students. If you don’t mind me asking what were your stats?

@amy989 Yeah I found out right before decisions came out that they “highly recommend” the interview and it made me super nervous haha
My stats are 35 ACT, 4.6 gpa, kinda weak ec’s but they said I showed passion so idk

Wow - great stats! My D has a friend at U of Roc that told her how important the interview was. Basically said if an applicant doesn’t do it then the decision will likely be a denied. She is still waiting on the decision. Hope it will come soon.

@NICE8x Thanks for the good advice… Your attitude is, as others have said, very nice. I am just especially worried because U Roch is by far my top choice, and I can only realistically attend if we receive substantial aid. So I really need them to like me! If I didn’t care as much, I probably wouldn’t be so uptight about it.
Argh I guess I’ll try not to worry too much; the waiting is going to kill me on this one.

Fyi, in my dashboard it stayed at step 4 even after the decision notification (pop up of letter). It moved to step 5 only after the merit scholarship notification. Good luck.

@PigletYorkie, thanks for that info. When you say there was a pop up of letter, do you mean you logged into My Roc, and a pop up letter appeared telling you there was a decision for you?

Has anyone got notification of being rejected?

People who received their decisions - did you get an email telling you to check your portal?

@Winky1 Yes. The pop up window contains a decision letter.
@itsisha Yes.

Congratulations to the accepted! I’m guessing tomorrow is another day of acceptances since someone said it’s every Friday??

Does anybody know how competitive the merit scholarships are? Someone from my school last year received $20,000 annually to attend Rochester. I looked at their scholarship page, but it just lists different ones, not saying how many or how much is given out for each scholarship…

I do hope there’s a “Friday pattern” and if yes, I get mine today. I checked my portal and there’s been some addition to my checklist, not significant though but like someone went through it again. I really need this acceptance for my morale. Ugh, now I’m desperate! #Peace

I guessed it was Friday, but that was just a guess based on last Friday and the last batch for class of 2019 being released on a Friday.

On Stage 4 and also really hoping I get a decision today. Good luck to everyone if there are more decisions today!
