I put "computer engineering" on all my college apps, but I am not sure that is what I am going to study... However I will probably study something science, engineering or math related....

I am on the west coast and not a lot of people even know Rochester exists... So if anyone can offer there opinions about how good the engineering and science programs at these universities are it would be greatly appreciated. Any other comments such as quality of life are appreciated. I've never been to the east coast...

The financial situation is roughly the same at all three...

Thanks

University of Washington.

^^^

I agree, of the three choices this is the best one.

rochester is a really good research school if you want to go into science. ive read negative reviews of their comp sci program though. engineering should also be pretty great there.
rochester kids are pretty nerdy, but the laid-back type. not too party crazy, but still chill and friendly. the open curriculum is a plus too if you really dont like the humanities.
the weather can get cold, wet and bleary, but so does the entire northeast coast. it doesnt snow as much as you think. and apparently it reached the seventies up there today. its nice and sunny in the warm seasons.

thanks for replys and bump

Santa Clara is really good if you want to live in California because they have really good alumni connections especially in the bay area. But for national recognition I would go with university of Washington.

Santa Clara is a nice school, but not a powerhouse in Science.

UW - it is a top CS school

Rochester (a change is nice, but I don’t know the CS program so check out if the above comment is right, they are well known for science, though, so a change away from your own state is a benefit of going to college, imo)

SC

Once again it’s puzzling to see people post OPINIONS about schools they clearly know nothing about. Case in point, U of Rochester. It’s science and math departments are excellent and well regarded by employers and experts in the field. When some yokel in Walla Walla doesn’t know anything about UR, that means you shouldn’t take his/her advice about the place.
