University of Rochester vs University of Washington @ Seattle for Business

Hi there,
I was accepted to U of Washington @ Seattle with Business Administration
I was also accepted to U of Rochester with Business Administration

but it's a bit hard for me to decide where to go since i don't have enough information about these schools.

I know that U of R is rural and small whereas U of W is more urban and big, and west vs east

But I also want to know from the people who have been to U of Washington or U of Rochester to share what they like and dislike about the school.

please tell me how going to these school will affect me social-life-wise, academic-wise, and career-wise

I was worried that if i go to U of Rochester, it would be boring and less place to go and more work etc. whereas in U of Washington there would be more places to go, more people to meet, more friends, and more food XD. please tell me if i'm wrong,
Thank you :)

Rochester isn’t Manhattan, but it’s not what most people would call rural.

I’m decieding between the two as well… I haven’t been to Rochester yet… as I am waiting on merit-aid as of now… but I have been to U dub.

UW is huge… it’s pretty… seattle is definitely the most interesting city in the US pacific northwest… There is a lot of greek life at UW… a lot of clubs iirc approx 500… no idea about business academics

What section of the country are you from?

I’ve studied in California for middle school, and now i am studying in Massachusetts for highschool.
I’ve always thought that its more fun in California, and more boring in MA,
i’ve assumed that rochester is gonna be more challenging and boring, but better for my future career, as i found out that Rochester has high salary ranking.

im still not quite sure what “greek life” means, is that like more social life?

Not for undergrad, you weren’t. Rochester doesn’t have an undergraduate business major. They do have a certificate in Management Studies. The Simon School of Business is graduate studies only.

I really like the UW campus. Yes it is big, but it doesn’t feel big to me, it feels more like a neighborhood. Lots of trees and fun activities and greedy squirrels and crows :-). And yes, there is so much to do in Seattle… anything you want to do! And you can do it year round. It does not rain so much in Seattle as many claim, but indeed, the winters are gray, so you sort of have to force yourself outside to get what sunshine you can and stay active and happy.

Chedva, thanks for the clarification, i checked just now and they did say they offered management …

As i’ve researched through the web, i am mostly only able to gather information about UW

any comments on U of Rochester?

The University of Rochester (overall) is like Emory University. It is a part of the city and highly regarded regionally. The school is in the group with Chicago, Emory, Case Western Resever, and Washington (St. Louis).

If you go to Rochester you will enjoy it. You will not suffer from not having enough to do. There is plenty going on at the school and in the community.

Chedva, it was my understanding that UR started to phase out the Certificate in Management Studies a year or two ago. I believe that it has been replaced by a business MINOR.

Greek life is a reference to fraternities and sororities… if you do not know what they are read Wikipedia…

So, guys, which school would you prefer and why???
