Hi. I have a question regarding school vs school, and would very much appreciate some answers.
I’m an international student who will come to the US to study next year. I’m looking a lot forward to it, and I’m deciding between two schools: University of Rochester and Villanova University.
If I go to Rochester, I will study financial economics, and if I go to Villanova I will attend the Villanova School of Business and study finance.
After my undergrad, I want to hopefully work on Wall Street for a year or two before I pursue my MBA at one of the top schools in the nation. After that, I want to work at one of the top consulting companies. In order to get there, I, of course, need to have some great and “in-the-field” internships.
I know that Villanova has a much better location, being just 20 minutes away from Philadelphia, and just two hours away from NYC.
As a side-comment to the social life, I’ve gotten the impression that the social and party scene is much better at Villanova than at Rochester.
However, I’m not saying I wouldn’t enjoy Rochester. It seems like a fantastic learning environment, but I’m not sure if they have the balance I’m looking for.
However, the scholarship will be better at Rochester than at Villanova. Does it make sense to pay more for a school that’s ranked lower?
Anyway, which school would you recommend I go to? Do you think there’s a bigger return on investment at Villanova or Rochester? Which school and program do you think will set me up better for internships and getting into one of the best business schools?
I would really appreciate some answers. Thanks so much!
