University of San Diego 2022

I was admitted already in case anyone was wondering.

I sent an email earlier and they responded:

"Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on your acceptance! That’s very exciting to hear that you received the good news!

Great question - about merit awards. Unfortunately, while the merit aid estimator is a great tool for estimating the financial aid that will be received, it’s (unfortunately) not a guarantee that the merit aid indicated will come through, as there are quite a few other factors that play into the merit award process (USD’s recalculation of your GPA [a process we through with every application], the extracurriculars listed on your application, the overall competitiveness and academic achievement of your applicant pool, etc).

I just took another look at your application, and it seems you are correct: a merit scholarship was unable to be awarded based on your GPA and test scores."

I can’t believe they couldn’t give me a single dime, but I guess that’s life.

SAT: 1360
GPA: 4.15 UW and 3.89 W
21K Trustee scholarship/ year

@jjcanada once I was admitted, there was a box with financial aid information under the admitted portion of my portal. from there, I could go into financial aid history and it told me the scholarship I had.

I was admitted last week with a Trustee scholarship- for those wondering about financial aid, mine was released the day after my decision. I didn’t receive an email or anything about my decision, just checked my portal and my decision was there. I can say my stats if anyone needs me to.

Still ‘complete ready for review’

@BeantownSchool me too, waiting game sucks

Me too, I’m hoping the second wave of acceptances start to roll out soon.

@connorm24 Your grades and scores are very good, but they don’t place you in the top 20% of applicants where you could expect a merit scholarship from USD. I agree that the NPC can be misleading and I think it’s intentionally done to attract applicants. With those grades and scores I’m sure you got other offers that were great.

GPA: 4.3 W / 3.8 UW
SAT: 1390
Lots of AP, EC, varsity sports, NHS, CSF, volunteer hours
$25K Alcala scholarship award / year
Biology major

@EDHDAD I was just really hoping for some money because there’s no way I am afford the sticker price. Also I’ve seen people on here with similar stats to mine get very good merit aid, so I was just disappointed. The most I’ve gotten from a school so far is $13k so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.

What day of the week did You guys get your acceptances?

@rileymanj10 people accepted in the first wave got it 2/19

Thank You

@connorm24 USD is a really expensive school. As far as kids with similar stats getting some money, it’s really hard to know if you are comparing yourself apples to apples with other kids based upon just GPA and SAT. Things like HS course rigor, AP testing, class rank, your HS’s reputation, your race, your intended major, etc. all get weighed in their decision to award the merit money. Some programs that are the hardest to get into and therefore have the top students don’t award any money period.

Did you apply to any in-state public schools?

Has anyone gotten in from the South yet?

I got in & I live in Virginia

How much longer till they are done sending decisions? I still haven’t gotten one and I’m a little concerned.

@Theremitt2018 i wouldn’t stress only one wave has been sent out so far
