University of San Diego 2023

@kitty72 daughter is still in committee review since the15th I believe. I called regarding the status of “Committee Review” specifically and what that means and was told that while application decisions have started being released, they are still in the process of reading all of the applications and not to worry …so I really didn’t get much more info than we already had!

Thanks for the info. I was hoping for a quick answer. Fingers crossed for your daughter and my son! ??

ugh my status is still in “Complete - Ready for review”

Me too… I wonder if that is different than committee review

No admissions today?

Do you show an “Admitted” option on the left side panel under “Applicant”? We were informed via a couple of emails last week and saw this there (not sure it was there before) but the status still shows as “Committee review” under the applicant, more info selection. I guess my point is if it was not there and is there now, it may mean you are in. I saw the admitted option before the email and was very confused if it meant admitted or is just the generic admitted students info everyone can see.

@23Hopeful No, there is not an admitted tab. My daughter’s status changed to Committee Review on the 15th and that was pretty much it. I don’t see an admitted tab under applicant. I think we just have to wait for the next wave in a week or so. From what I’ve read here, everyone who had the Admitted Tab continues to show “Committee Review” in the status. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Good luck everyone and congrats to those who have already received an acceptance!

Good luck to all who not hear!
Yes, admitted tab came before we got the email saying we were admitted but status committee review stays since.

So if you see the admitted you are likely there!

@slongo100 idk if its any different but it gives the impression that they haven’t even seen our apps yet or that they’re pending

Recieved my acceptance letter in the mail today (from Pennsylvania)!! No financial aid info, but I did “officially” recieve a 21k trustee scholarship (although I saw it on my financial aid portal when I was admitted last week).

@cka4114 That’s so quick if they were just mailed out Friday, especially with the holiday. I am assuming that only students who were previously accepted via portal will get those acceptance letters in the snail mail?!

My daughter received an e-mail acceptance a few days ago. Today she received a letter in the mail saying she’s been awarded the Alcala scholarship for $25,000. The letter says that only a handful of the 14,000+ applicants are selected for this award. It’s very flattering, but for financial reasons she will probably choose a school that offers her more merit aid. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

We might be in the same boat @ArizonaParent but curious to see if my D is admitted.

Seems like there was a wave last week and they mailed the letters right after. Email arrived same evening as the admitted showed up on left menubar. Snail mail to northern CA arrived today. Portal status still says committee review. No financial aid info yet so not sure what to make of that - either none or maybe later.

Son was accepted via email last week and snail mail arrived today on the east coast. No information regarding merit money, so not sure what that means or doesn’t mean. I guess we sit tight and wait to hear more from the admissions office via email and/or the portal.

D received an email last week, had admitted tab on the left the same day and got the letter in the mail on Saturday. No merit aid at all and I called and they said if you received a merit scholarship it would be in your letter. Sadly we will not be able to afford USD without some type of merit scholarship but thankfully daughter has been blessed with very generous merit scholarships from other schools. Good luck to all in this whole process and trust in God that everyone will end up where they belong.

@hermom1 We are with you, without merit aid, USD doesn’t make a lot of sense for us either. My son has generous merit aid from other schools of equal or better standing. Maybe they can make up for it with needs based aid, but I doubt we qualify for enough there to make it work either. We will wait and see. Full or near full price at USD, doesn’t make sense with many other great schools providing better support.

Yes, I think USD is more focused on need vs merit. Even the $21k merit scholarship puts cost at $40k per. But, great school and I think the location plays a huge role.

@bballjones so sad as it was high on my daughters list and we are local SD. We do not think she will get offered much in the way of need based aid, at this point no one has offered her any need based aid only merit aid so we’ve removed it from the list. I’m glad we found out early on so she can focus her energy on weighing her other options (although still waiting for the UC’s and Cal State application decisions). Good luck!
@JBSeattle yes it is a great location, we live local so she could have come home and said hey every once in a while lol

@hermom1, Congratulations on your daughter’s acceptance to USD and other schools. Curious what her stats are to get an idea of how they are allocating merit. I fear if I get in I probably won’t get any merit either.
