The majority of financial information will come in March so don’t despair that it was not included in your acceptance package. Congratulations!

Is the financial info that comes out in March only need-based or is some still merit-based?
D accepted in Dec. but didn’t receive any offers of aid. Didn’t expect to with a mid-20s ACT (like sparksfly just happy to be accepted). EFC nearly equal to COA, but sure could use some help.
Does it affect awards to send in enrollment before March awards are made?

^^ Yeah, I’m wondering the same thing. I really hope it’s merit based!

Oh and redskins1993, sorry I wasn’t really specific with my stats. My GPA is 3.9 weighted, my SAT is 1770, and my ACT is 26. I did 3 years of a sport, NHS, community service, a few clubs, and I had leadership roles in student government. I saw that you were wondering what scholarship you would get based on your stats a few posts earlier, so I thought my stats would help you out.

thanks^ yeah i have like the exact same gpa as you but a bit higher sat
we’ll see what happens

Just to preface this, I actually applied RD, I wasn’t expecting to hear back until April.

Accepted (10k/Presidential Scholar)
3.8 UW/ 3.95 W
32 ACT

I’m super excited! I’m undecided between Tulane and USD as of yet.

Shermani, you didn’t apply EA? Wow, I am dying to hear! My son applied regular decision, the wait is awful.

I got the package and just figured it was an admissions newsletter of some sort. I checked my common app just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, and lo and behold, I did apply Regular Decision.

shermani - what are you stats if you dont mind?
I applied RD and the wait is killing me xD

I posted earlier, but here you go:

Accepted (10k/Presidential Scholar)
3.8 UW/ 3.95 W
32 ACT

Deferred from USD. grr. Any ideas of things I could send in to boost my chances?
I’m an actor/dancer, I was thinking of putting together a little video montage and maybe sending in an essay from a class or something. What do you guys think?

Sydney, did you apply EA?

yes I did gosimoes

I just found out today and I got in EA!

Congrats mere24!

I’m so happy for you, mere24! Would you mind sharing exactly how you were notified? It is unclear from all these postings–some seem to hear by email, text, mail or even the portal, which tells my daughter it will not show admissions decisions. They are dragging this out to the very end (Jan 31), so any information would be helpful! By the way, I recognize your name from an older LMU deferral thread–I think USD is widely seen as a better school, and is a very desirable and tough admit out here in the west. Take that, LMU! Of course, you will almost certainly get in LMU regular decision and may go, but most people (except all these film people) would chose USD over it anyway.

I got this message immediatiely when I signed onto the portal:
Congratulations on your acceptance!
Congratulations on being admitted through the Early Action program. Now that you’ve been admitted we are sure you have lots of questions about what happens next. The papers accompanying your acceptance letter contain much of the information you need, but you will also find it here in your MySanDiego portal.

Here is where you will check for your financial aid award (in March), be able to pay your enrollment confirmation, and register for one of our admitted student campus events. This information will change as we get closer to March and April, so be sure to check back often for updates. Once you decide to enroll at USD, you will also register for classes, select your housing and meal plan options, and take care of all the other business you need.

In the meantime enjoy the information we have provided and congratulations again on being admitted to USD’s Class of 2015!

**I also got into Chapman but I think USD is my first choice! Good luck to your daughter!

Thanks very much for the information, mere24. Congratulations on Chapman, as well. I don’t know if you’ve visited them, but USD and Chapman felt very different to us. People really seem to like both, so you have your work cut out deciding! A great position to be in though, well done.

Thanks tealeaves!
I just tried to private message you but it didn’t work… but could you tell me your thoughts on both schools? Which one you liked better and why? I’m visiting in March but I’d still love you input.

They are both great schools, and I’m sure when you see them both, you’ll know. The main reason my daughter decided not to apply to Chapman is the size of the campus. It is 78 acres, whereas USD is 180. USD felt like a more residential, cohesive campus to her–she could imagine living there.

Thanks tealeaves.
Is USD your daughter’s first choice? I just can’t wait to visit and then actually make a decision.
