Hi! I’m a junior in high school and I am super interested in Scranton! It seems perfect to me except for one thing…I do want to go to a Christian school however, I am not catholic and Scranton seems to be a Catholic school? Would that make a difference in how I would end up liking the school?
My daughter went to Marywood which is another Catholic school in Scranton. She is strongly Protestant but became great friends with the priest. She helped him establish an interdenominational student group that shared a wing in one dorm.
Check the website at Scranton for religious requirements. You may need to take a religion class or two but there probably is a wide variety. There will be crucifixes and statues but outside of that no overwhelming flavor of Catholicism.
Conservative Christian schools tend to incorporate religion into every class and require dress codes and worship attendance. Catholic schools on the whole do not.
My kid was an RA and one month had to create a bulletin board on catholic identity. She tucked a drawing of Martin Luther into one corner. The nuns got a good laugh out of it and it stayed there.
