I recently got accepted and I’m extremely happy about it knowing it was kinda a reach school for me. I am still waiting for other schools so I will decide if I on the college I want to go to. I know it is a pretty good school and has a solid ranking on my major I want to do which is Physical Therapy, but I am concerned about if I could fit in. I am a quiet kid, but I want to change this in college. I heard Scranton is pretty small in population of undergrads and heard people are nice. Is it really like this and can a guy like me be able to make friends in Scranton? I definitely plan on joining clubs and intramurals as well. I have also think about even going to parties as well once in a while as well, but I don’t know if i can get invited.
Scranton is not that small. 6,000 total and 4,000 undergrad. About 2/3rds live on campus.
Have you visited yet? What are your other choices so far?
Got accepted to Rutgers Newark, Camden, and William Paterson but I don’t I will choose those schools. I’m waiting for Temple, UCONN, Northeastern, BU, Drexel, and Stony Brook. Temple, UCONN, and Northeastern are arguably my top choices. I visited those campuses and just liked the atmosphere of the campus and the people. Hopefully I could get in those schools because they’re high reaches, but I am very happy with Scranton but I don’t know what to expect from school. I already saw Campus Twice, once for my sister, and another for my friend who is now a Freshmen in College. I wanted to go to their Royal Days which is where you get to experience being a student at Scranton, but the slots filled up quickly, so I think my family will go back again for a Campus Tour again maybe in February or March.
Assuming you don’t get any need based aid, what is your worst case cost for Scranton. Keep in mind most people get some need-based money. Scranton doesn’t miss an opportunity to remind everyone to apply.
I think I would pick Northeastern over Scranton but not any of the others.
Ya I also got a $10,000 scholarship from Scranton so the tuition would like mostly cost $28,000 and I think our family afford it. Yeah Northeastern is definitely the best school in my list in terms of academics on my list, but Temple and UCONN were really good so it’s gonna come down if I feel comfortable at the schools. Scranton would definitely be considered as well if I get accepted to either of my top schools.
