I visit the University of Scranton today with S. Since there is no place to post it on the college visit page I will post in here.
Most people don't know it is a Jesuit School. (But non-catholics are welcome too) 4100 undergrads. Core Curriculum requirements.

For an urban campus I thought it very nice. Lots of grass and pretty landscaping. (I like it better than Villanova) Dorm rooms standard doubles. The freshman get the oldest dorms. Comes with housekeeping service. Div 3 sports. Good merit aid available. Freshman get unlimited meal plan.

Mall and movies withing .5 mile walk, but shuttle buses available too. I have heard many good things about this school. S said he would keep it on his list to apply to.

My D graduated from there and son is there now. It is a great school! And we are not Catholic (or even very religious) and my kids fit in just fine.

Yes, they keep the campus beautiful and the dorms I have been in have always been spotless. The light housekeeping is nice. S loved the unlimited meal plan - he had it for sophomore year also. Beautiful new student center and new sophomore dorm just opened. And they just broke ground for a new science building. The academics are rigorous, with the sciences, health professions, and business being particularly strong.

I, too have always felt that they were fairly generous with merit aid and need based aid.

I know many kids that love this school. I visited a few years ago when we were in the vicinity and it seems to have something special going for it. It is a school that seems like a close knit community. I was impressed with what I saw.
