Who all received notification from University of South Carolina Honors College today? Wasnā€™t expecting anything until mid to late January so it was a nice surprise.

My D got accepted to the HC yesterday. Very happy for her. Just more incentive to choose SoCarolina. Congrats to those who got letters yesterday!

Congratulations to everyone accepted to the Honors College. I got a ā€œmemoryā€ yesterday of the video I took of my daughter opening her decision. She is home in Illinois from winter break after her first semester as an Honors College student at USC. She is thriving!

@3kids2dogs I know are thrilled to have your daughter home! What is her favorite part of the Honors College? Itā€™s always great to hear the thoughts of current students. Thanks!

So she really likes the honors dorm, but she said her favorite part are the honors classes and early registration. Being an honors student gives her a lot of flexibility and options. There are a lot of honors sections of classes to choose from (both basic classes and unique ones) and early registration allows the kids to get into the classes (and sections) that they want with such low stress.

Honors kids register before all non honors kids including seniors, but there is a hierarchy of honors kids (seniors honors kids register before freshman honors kids, etc)

My son was accepted as EA. He also applied to the HC. He did not get an HC notice yesterday. His letter on 12/13 says that he is one of the most competitive students and will be awarded a merit scholarship in March. However, nothing has come in the mail yet even for his regular acceptanceā€¦does anyone know about how the acceptances goes? We are in state. Did any instate kids get accepted into the HC last night?

hi i was admitted into honors on the 23rd!

oos student, major: business undeclared but will probably switch to international business as iā€™m interested in doing the barsc degree with a combination of computer science and potential law degree following undergrad.

gpa: 101.8547, sat: 1410 superscore (1400 highest sitting), some awards (clarkson university leadership award, 4 honor society acceptances)

lots of ecā€™s (4 years of student government, art selling business, head counselor at a summer camp, deca w numerous awards, finance and economics club, treasurer of global initiatives club, programmer for robotics club, smithsonian virtual transcription volunteer, etc.)

for my ea acceptance i got a scholarship for at least $86,000 (in state tuition plus extra stipend) but will receive more merit money for honors acceptance as indicated in decision letter. i am really hoping for a top scholars invitation but this is my top choice now so i think that iā€™m going to enroll regardless. go gamecocks!!!

also this is a fake username w a random email so this is not my actual identity lol

sorry for the repetitive comments but does anyone know if iā€™m more likely to receive a top scholars invitation bc of my earlier honors acceptance or am i just as likely as anyone else who submitted the application for it?

I think they pick from the pool of early acceptances but all of them definitely do not get invites for Top Scholar. There is another thread from last year about Honors College and Top Scholar which can help you gain insight. OOS Top Scholar is super competitive and it is a pretty good thread for info.

i was just invited to an honors college reception night prior to the admitted students days and was wondering if it would be worth it to wait to register until after top scholar decisions were released. i would like to visit the school before next fall as i will be attending but cannot afford to go to an admitted students day as well as the top scholars weekend if i am miraculously invited. any advice would be appreciated so thank you!

I would register for it, and then just cancel if you get an invite for Top Scholars weekend. Good luck!
