University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

I have the 5th written down, too, but I can’t remember where I saw it!

I have 12/15/21 written as well.

The 5th or 15th? Maybe the 15th came up since the website says Mid-December :woman_shrugging:

What site says the 15th?

I don’t see the 15th I just see mid-december on the website. I’m not sure where the 15th came into play :woman_shrugging:

I know I saw December 15th somewhere in the beginning of this process. Now it’s mid-December. My guess is that they don’t want to necessarily commit to a particular date, just a general idea. At some point in the next two weeks a decision will be released…

DS applied to Auburn where the same thing happened. At first the website said decision by 11-15, then it said mid-November, and he got his acceptance on 11-12.

My DD also applied to Auburn, unfortunately she was deferred so now we have to wait until March. It is not one of her top choices so as it was disappointing it was not devastating. She is however anxious for UofSC decision, so 2 weeks is going to seem like an eternity, :joy:

Last year, EA decisions came out on December 15th so that - combined with the “mid December” notification date listed on the UofSC admissions site - makes Dec 15 this year probably a pretty good guess.

I agree with you on that - UofSC finals end on 12/13 so my guess is they will send out the decisions sometime that week.

Doesn’t the website say the 15th? I know the Honors College decisions come much later.

The website only says mid-December. Hoping it’s 12/15 but can’t be sure.

If they don’t get into the honors program or they don’t want to do the extra essays (shout-out to my D21), there’s also the Capstone Scholars program, which is by invite only and does not require an additional application or essays. My daughter was also offered some additional merit along with her Capstone invitation. She chose another university, so I have no direct experience with the program - but I recall parents on the FB groups speaking favorably of it.

I saw someplace within the past week or so, and I don’t recall where and can’t seem to find it, that said that applicants are informed of decisions ONLY via US mail (not through the portal). Can anyone confirm?

My son applied two years and received his acceptance via his portal…a mailing followed later.

I think you are referring to an old post on Tumblr – that’s from 2016

My daughter got hers via portal last year.

My son applied to UofSC in 2019 and we had to wait for the snail mail to deliver the decision notice, there was no portal update - sadly it did not come until the week before Christmas and it was a deferral :unamused:. I am hoping they have changed the procedures since then and we get an update via portal for my daughter. Also hoping the outcome is different this time around lol.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Maybe it’s true that some learn of the decision via US mail first, and others through the portal first. At least we’ll know next week…

Last year my DD got hers on the 15th via the portal. Out of the 14 schools she got into, she choose UofSC and it was the best decision for her. She is absolutely in LOVE with the school (never wants to come home lol) So best of luck to those waiting! If you have any questions, please message me!
