Hi, I am currently a junior in high school who plans on applying to USC, preferably entering in the honors college if I can gain admission. I also plan on applying to schools such as Michigan, Penn, Boston College, and a few others. I plan on majoring in international business with either a double minor in Chinese and Spanish or possibly upgrading one for a double major. I am highly interested in USC international business, considering it is ranked #1 in the country, but I do not have much information on how good it really is and why it is ranked so highly. Should I choose such a program over just generally highly regarded business schools such as Michigan and Boston College? Both do not really have exceptionally ranked international business programs, but have highly prestigious general business programs. If someone can inform me more about USC and its international business program, it would be highly appreciated. I want to know anything and everything to know about it, like job opportunities and anything else. Thank you!

This is discussed often in USC forum, specifically search for IB program ranking or international business within that forum. There are some current students who might respond. I will say that USC has a lot of emphasis on business school as whole right now with brand new facility that opens this year.

My experience entering the workplace (after graduating college about a year ago) is that students from more prestigious schools have FAR more success getting the kinds of jobs you’ll probably want - in investment banking, international business and consulting. Even liberal arts schools that don’t offer “international business” as a major (like my alma mater and the other schools in the NESCAC) will prepare you for a solid business career, and have much more cache abroad than USC. My opinion is that you would definitely be better off going to Michigan, BC, etc, or (like I said a bit earlier) a school without a business major like Tufts or Williams.
