I am going to the University of South Florida starting in Fall 2012. I am planning to major in Chemistry and on March 1st I applied for housing and selected the Juniper and Poplar Hall as my only choices. I was wondering if I have a chance at getting into those halls so late because I plan to major in Chemistry which is right next to that hall. All of the other dorms are on the other side of the college, which would make staying at them very inconvenient. Do they consider where your classes will be located when selecting your housing? I also will be taking the ACT's in April to try and bring up my scores to qualify for the Honors College. Would it be too late to be admitted into the Honors College also?

Magnolia is also by chemistry. But if you can stay off campus because both Juniper and Juniper suck. But Juniper is huge I would imagine there is open room. If you can get into The Province or Campus Club off campus they are $200 less a month and alot nicer.

Housing has already started to be assigned. If you haven’t been placed in Juniper-Poplar by now, you won’t be. They are already filled according to the Housing ROCS page on facebook. Honors housing has been filled also (according to students who applied for it and were told by Honors) so you won’t be able to get into that even if you bring your ACT up, maybe the college but not the housing. Also if you’re a first time in college, you won’t be starting classes for your major until your second semester as a sophomore or until junior year, so housing doesn’t really matter. They don’t place you based on major either, unless you are in a LLC (living learning community), which most of those are also filled by now. Hope that helps!

Also, based on what USF2012 said. If you are a first time in college (freshman) you have to stay on campus your first year, unless you live in Hillsborough, Pasco, or Pinellas county and fill out the housing exempt form and they accept it.
