Hey, this is my first post. I'm a high school senior and a florida resident, accepted into UCF USF and UF. USF is my first choice, and I have got both the $48000 national merit finalists scholarship and will get the 100% bright future scholarship. How much surplus money will I have each semster assuming I go to USF, and do I get to spend this on whatever I want or does the college retain this money? Thanks.

I honestly don’t know the answer to your question but CONGRATULATION. Your college finances look like they are covered.

Aid awarded by the school cannot exceed the cost of attendance for the school. I don’t know how Bright Futures or NMS awards factor into that equation.

Hopefully someone here will know. Regardless…at least your college costs sound like they will be covered.

I know for sure that I won’t qualify for any financial aid, but I’ve heard about people spending surplus scholarship money on whatever they please (ex tvs, video games etc), so do I get to keep the excess of money?

Yes you do get to keep the money left over. If you don’t get nothing back from financial aid then the merit scholarship will pay your school. If you have money left over from that (considering it pays for books, tuition, and housing) then that money plus the bright futures money is given to you.

With a normal courseload, approximately how much surplus money would there be in a year? Also, do your reccomend that the money be saved?
