University of Tampa - seeking information

My daughter was recently admitted to UT with a scholarship. We have not yet visited the school and don’t know much about it except that it has a particular program of study that is of interest to her. I would be happy to learn more about the school from parents or students. I’m particularly interested in feedback on the core curriculum and also campus life for someone who won’t be able to go home on weekends (we don’t live in FL).

I could say all of the same as you, @suburbancat except that we visited last spring. We are from the northeast and my daughter is interested in a specific major. Her first comment after we left is that all of the facilities are very nice. Would love to hear more about what others think! Not her first choice, but still on the list.

D has been accepted and id seriously considering attending. However, our non-firsthand knowledge won’t be that helpful to you. I suggest you visit Unigo and Niche and read the reviews.

It’d be useful if the specific major(s) were listed as well as the daughter’s stats.

If it’s useful in any way: UW 3.4, W 3.9 GPA; 29 ACT; good ECs, high AP scores (6 total courses). She has an interest in criminology, criminal justice, maybe forensics. It looks like a good program, but I don’t know much about it. The school looks nice online, but looks can be deceiving and we have not seen it. The scholarship offer is good, but I’ve got nothing else yet to compare it to.

She’ll probably be among the top students for course rigor and W GPA, hence the scholarship offer, so she should be in Honors Program and find people there. Average GPA is 3.4 (but with less course rigor - most students have few if any AP and mostly college prep classes) and average ACT is 24, with top 25% being 26.
Criminology is a legit field of study (top school is UMD College Park), forensic is essentially applied chemistry with some social science, but criminal justice is just a placeholder till you get to law enforcement. Be careful about the difference.
All in all it’s nice, but perhaps wait till you hear from other programs?

My daughter’s stats are similar to suburbancat’s but her major of interest is Marine Science. Would be interested in hearing if anyone has any feedback on that major there. Thanks!
