Hi Kenshi! I participated in a thread about Tampa a few months ago-so if you link through me and view my postings, you'll find one from 2/9/05 re:Tampa. (I think it's on p 6 of my postings. Whoa I am on this way too often. I think my daughter may apply-but we won't be able to see the campus until next year. I've checked the website- it seems promising. We're from the NY area so most of the other schools she is applying to are in NY and mid-Atlantic. Good luck.

marny1,

I am a former NYer living in Tampa. The University of Tampa has a beautiful campus, architecturely unique buildings on the riverfront. It is in a great part of town with the performing arts center across the river and fantastic restaurants within walking distance. The city of Tampa has kind of a midwestern feel, but with better weather.

Thanks Audiophile- What better time to check out Tampa than during the February school break. My d has a B+ average and ACT of 21. So I think she has a shot at admission. We're drawn to the school as the tuition seems fairly reasonable for a private U. My d will be applying to mostly State U's in mid-Atlantic (Temple-George Mason etc.) As they may require OOS kids to have higher qualifications than in-state students, we're trying to look at some private U's too. If d has to choose between SUNY Brockport and Tampa, I think she'll be your new neighbor. If you can give us some additional insight into the school, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

marny,

I don't know a lot about UT, other than it is mainly known for business and has a good rep locally. We used to frequent a restaurant across the street from the school: http://www.miseonline.com/ . We also go to a lot of shows at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. When you walk out of the theater at night, the sight of UT's buildings all lit up across the river is really beautiful!

Ironically, my own D is looking at mostly northern schools.
