University of Tennessee Knoxville or Chattanooga?

So? I'm having trouble trying to figure out which one would be a better choice. The city matters too. Is Knoxville or Chattanooga an all around better school to go to? thanks. just hoping to get some opinions from people who have been to either school or know anything about them.

Definitely Knoxville !

I really wish I could have went to Knox, but my grades weren’t that good, and I missed the deadline . So, if you can definitely go to Knox . I’m going to Chatt for a year and then I’m going to transfer to Knox .

Can anyone share their personal experience with UT Chat? Youngest D is interested in going for anthropology degree there.

UTK is better overall, but of course it can depend on your major. I’ve visited Chat but not UTK. So I can’t give any personal experience, but many people from my high school go to Chat every year. It’s cheaper and gives out more scholarships. The best things though have to be the campus and the dorms! Incredible.
Well, hope some of this helps. Good luck.

Thanks - we haven’t visited yet and its good to hear you like the campus & dorms.

D is very excited about Chatt after seeing all the outdoor activities available in the area, ad they have the major & classes she wants. She is a B & C student, but we are hopeful that she can get in to Chat - probably couldn’t make the cut at UTK.

Just back from a visit to UT Chat and you weren’t’ kidding about the incredible dorms! Really liked the feel on campus and Chattanooga is a really cool city. We made the housing deposit immediately upon our return home.

Yeah, I’m willing to bet those UTC dorms are the best in the state. And yes, Chattanooga does seem nice. It’s more of a real city, as opposed to Knoxville, which just revolves around UTK. And a girl in my class did the same thing- put down a deposit just after seeing the dorms but she isn’t even really considering the school lol.

Speaking of, I actually visited UTK last week. It was somewhat similar to Chatt, except that it was much larger and seemed more crowded, which I rather liked. It was very hilly too. I didn’t really like Knoxville itself though; the school is almost too pervasive. I now know what people mean when they say Knoxville is UTK. On a different note, they did clear up some of the financial mystery surrounding the school. Their scholarships seem much more attainable, and they said yearly “direct costs” are only about $16,000 (I’ve seen totals around $22,000) but that is much better than some of the numbers I’ve heard from others. But who knows lol.

Also, another school I happened to see on a whim was Tennessee Tech University. I had never heard of it, but it looked like a private school. Definitely the best-looking public school I’ve seen so far in Tennessee.

UTK has one of the “largest Navys” in the world

I am currently a student at UTC and I am not exactly a happy camper. My heart has always been on UTK and I get a little envious when I see that other people go there. I recently went back to UTK for their homecoming a few weeks ago and I felt the emotions! I know that is my school and I am decided to transfer for the Fall of 2015. I have not felt anything in Chattanooga and I am not happy here. (Nothing wrong with Chattanooga at all though, Their dorms are amazing as well). UTK feels like an overall really college experience for me and I am so excited for the future. Wish me luck and good luck on your college search!

Just so you know tenn tech univ is public university in Cookeville.
