University of Texas at Austin Class of 2023 Admissions

@vvtuav @suave123 @UTWannabe23 Interesting update on Dean’s. For us, the honors tab in the portal still says “We’re reviewing your Dean’s Scholars application”. No update. We’ll just keep waiting I guess.

@collegemom111111 same ditto for us too ? we’re reviewing your dean’s scholars application

Ours says the same on Moody Honors … this is like water torture.

@Suave123 Our kids must have a lot in common, seems like we’re always in the same status, lol

@collegemom111111 when did ur D send the application? My D did it on Dec 1st.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I’m wondering if the honors programs come with any merit scholarships.

@suave123 My D sent it in on December 1st as well. Actually, it was the day prior, but the date shown as posted is 12/1.

Curious if anyone has heard recently on Polymathic Scholars? I know some have been accepted, but anyone been accepted or denied in the past week or so?

@TXdad1425 we are waiting as well. And I have not seen that anyone has posted an acceptance or been denied to Polymathic Scholars. The current message in the details section of the honors tab has this message:

Thank you for submitting your application to The University of Texas at Austin and your interest in Polymathic Scholars! Given the number of applications we’ve received and the increasing demand for some programs, we find that we must complete an additional review of your application before making a final decision.

We will do everything we can to provide a decision notification efficiently and no later than March 1. Thank you for your patience and interest in UT Austin!

@collegemom111111, being in honors does not guarantee a merit scholarship but the only students that will receive one are in honors.

@GTAustin really? only students in honors will receive a merit scholarship. I was under the impression that some top students choose not to apply to honors because of the extra demands.

I could be wrong but every student that I know that got a merit scholarship was in the honors program. They do not give out many merit scholarships to begin with, especially for the freshman year. As far as having to be in honors, that is what the kids say but there always could be the exception. I also know that there are many students in the honors programs that never receive a merit scholarship. Again, merit scholarships at UT for the freshman year are rare and should not be expected.

good to know…thanks!

Agree. If you look at the common data set, you see how few merit scholarships UT gives out. Frankly, they just don’t have to. They’re a top state school at a low price already. So it’s my understanding that merit only comes through honors programs like Plan II or engineering honors or through a highly competitive scholarship like The Forty Acres one.

And only like the best of the best within honors too.

UT is VERY stingy with merit money. My daughter is in Plan II and got nothing. Doesn’t really change the value of any honors degree at UT - unmatched value.

@UTWannabe23 Has your daughter been pleased with Plan II? Would love to hear her/your thoughts on that program.

Accepted. OOS. Applied priority decision. GPA 4.1W ACT 32. Accepted in Moody for Advertising. Waiting on honors

@akhmom I sent you you a private message.

@tennisgirl00 Did you get your acceptance tonight?
