S1 was accepted to Cockrell (ME) in 2016 on February 8th. I’m waiting to hear for S2 also applying to Cockrell (ME). The wait is agonizing. We were so excited when S1 was accepted. It was his dream school. S2 would love to join him! If not, we’ll be a house divided and he will attend TAMU. Anyone reading the blog posts https://texadmissions.com? Some of his exceptional clients are still waiting to hear and that gives me hope. Hook 'em!
Do you think I will get accepted?

@kdeeop Yes; I applied RD with app submitted Dec 1 and was admitted to Biochemistry CNS on Thursday, Jan 10th. Out of state.
My daughter got into her 2nd choice major tonight. She applied to McCombs but got Psychology. In state, AA.
@2TXkids It was posted this evening on her UT My Status THIS EVENING??? btw, congrats!
Yes, posted tonight! We checked this morning and there was no decision on major yet. I’m not sure exactly when it posted today, but she got an email to check her status this evening.
That is AWESOME!
Thank you, she’s excited! I had heard Psychology won’t look at your application if it’s listed as 2nd choice, so we are relieved they did. I’m glad the wait is over. Good luck to those still waiting!
@2TXkids congrats! What do you mean Psychology won’t look at your application if it’s listed as second choice?
I’ve read comments on this site and also this blog that say they don’t actually consider your second choice major. https://texadmissions.com/blog/does-your-second-choice-major-matter
@2TXkids, I’ve found that the blog you referred to above, and the admissions E-book written by Mr. Martin, has been very helpful. My eldest son who was in-state non-auto admit used the guidance in the book to get admitted to Liberal Arts Honors for the Class of 2016; and my youngest son who also is an instate non-auto admit applicant was recently accepted into McCombs using Mr. Martin’s guidance on how to prepare his application packet.
I interpreted the blog entry you posted above as indicating that if you are not an instate auto admit applicant, UT would normally not consider you for your second choice major. Hence, if the applicant is an auto admit (which I believe you indicated your child is) then I assume that they will be considered for their second choice major.
The info posted on the UT Campus to Counselor website on January 18 indicated that applicants would be considered for their second choice major; however, it did not indicate whether only auto-admits would be given such consideration. In particular, the post states in relevant part the following:
'Please keep in mind that we do plan to admit some fall 2019 students to the majors they selected as their second choice. The admissions process works the same for these students as it does for those admitted to their first choices — except MyStatus reflects that the major was the one they selected as their second choice when they applied for admission."

A friend of mine also got accepted last Friday. He applied as undeclared. He’s in state.
Has anyone gotten into Education yet?
@Embeechristmas Cool and congrats, what do you think about it? It looks interesting but I’m unsure about it.
Thank you @mgeek23 I am excited about it… Have you read the thread on CC about discussion on this topic? If not, here it is…
The way the curriculum is described on UT website it interests me the most…I have got in to different branches of engineering at UTD & TAMU. Still waiting on two more… But this one is my favorite…
I applied for nursing as my first choice, but accidentally did not fill out the extra essays required when applying to the nursing school, because I was under the impression that I was simply applying to a nursing major, not the nursing school. I called admissions and spoke to a man that said they would likely look over it and consider me for my second choice major (undeclared). I am an out of state student. Do you think what he said is not true? I truly hope not because it was truly a miscommunication and don’t want to get rejected simply because of that. What do you guys think?
@arh123 is there anyway you can upload a document titled “Nursing Essays” or actually edit the application and complete the nursing essays? I think you should write the additional essays and get them to admissions, someway, even if you have to mail them in an envelope. I have no real experience with this, it’s just a gut feeling.
@catdog222 A student from my town at another high school was admitted to McCombs two weeks ago-- OOS.
I was accepted two weeks ago as an OOS. Shockingly because I have a 27 ACT
@zlonghorn What Major were you accepted to? What GPA ? Thanks and congratulations !
