Need I say more!!! Look at my profile pic! Just got my banner!!
@Embeechristmas Congratulations! We got ours yesterday too. Son was happy but he really wants to hear about his major. ;))
@UTDad1995Grad me too… Really keeping my ?? that I get my major. Congrats to your son too!
Does anyone actually get rejected during this period, or do they only notify people if they’re accepted at this time and hold off on doing any rejections? We are OOS, so I assume we won’t be hearing for awhile, even though we made it for priority.
@srparent15 I don’t ever remember anyone being declined before March, or at least very late February. I believe that rejections won’t happen until all initial Acceptances have been sent out. Hang in there, good luck.

Thanks! The BHP application asks for Subject Test scores, however, I thought I recall reading somewhere that UT doesn’t consider subject scores and not to send them in. Regardless, since BHP is asking for them, should we have them sent anyway? Or is self reporting sufficient?
Someone on this trend earlier said that it would take longer for major decisions to be released for “College of Liberal Arts, Education, Undergraduate Studies, or Social Work”. Does anyone know why??!
! As a student applying for Social Work as my first choice and then Education as 2nd choice major reading that now has me super anxious?
@treehugger2023 - I don’t think that’s true. I’ve read through last year’s admissions thread and it seems like all of the majors had the same release schedules (like, a few early on and most people having to wait until January or February).
@treehugger2023 I believe atxmomof2 is correct. But know this, unless you consider this college your own auto acceptance upon being accepted by them, and money is no object, then you/we all, will have to wait until April before our decisions will be made. It’s not until April that we will understand what financial aid and scholarships will be available. As I look back to when I went through this with my son, in 2015, we got way to anxious thru this process. We couldn’t make any decision, and didn’t, until the end of April. Just sayin. hang in there and good luck.
I’m OOS, applied on Oct 31st. Till today I was seeing only my first choice major listed in the “Freshman admission application” box on the right on utdirect.utexas.edu. I logged in again just now to check if there were any updates, and I now see that my second choice major is also listed there. Could it possibly mean that I was not selected by my first choice major and that the second choice major is reviewing my application now? I know, I’m sure I’m reading too much into this, but thought I’d check if anyone else had noticed something like this.
@DocJake - They’re just still working on data entry. 100% guaranteed they haven’t made any decisions on your major in the past 10 days. You’re good!
Why do some people get decisions earlier and some later? Does admissions review the applications in order?
We did this last year…it looked like some kids the honors programs really wanted or some very strong applicants got in before Christmas…TINY number. I think I read somewhere about 1200 total had gotten in by Dec 12 last year. I think there was another small wave later that week, but you get the point…not many! Besides that tiny number it seemed totally random. We knew really, really strong students who didn’t get in until the spring and others who we weren’t sure would get in who got in earlier. Application date did not appear to matter at all! It was very annoying. Hopefully this year wont be as random.
On the very first page of this thread, post #5 I think, someone was kind (?) enough to post a link of this thread from last year’s UT class of 2022 acceptances. I somehow read the whole thing, and it was pretty interesting. So now I won’t be surprised that finding out if my D gets in or not might not happen until February 1, 2019. It was pretty easy reading and I skimmed as much and read as much as I felt I needed to. It was quite enlightening on many levels, I recommend it if you are in the dark about how long the UT process takes.
For us OOS, is there any possibility to get in-state tuition (merit)? Is there an application for a scholarship that we need to apply for before Dec. 1 deadline ?
New to this forum… I am wondering will UT offer me other major choices if I don’t get into my first choice major? Note: I am not ranked top 6 percent, so I am NOT an auto admit.
@kli586 UT doesn’t give merit scholarships to in-state students, and definitely not to OOS students. If you want OOS merit scholly, look at University of Houston.
Is anybody aware if a small wave of decisions is coming out this Friday? Going through last year’s thread it seemed like a few people found out around that time.
I have a Longhorn applying to engineering honors and P2, but thinking they might drop P2 if they receive acceptance into both majors due to workload. Also, just hoping my kiddo gets in (non ranking school)! My kiddo will be devastated if they don’t receive 1st choice engineering major, and I am worried! I have a Longhorn at UT, so this process is harsh-hang in there everyone!
