University of Texas at Austin Class of 2024 Admissions / Preparation

Any idea when non-auto admits started hearing something last year?

From last year’s thread, it looks like the first wave of acceptances and major assignments starts on Nov 1. Another wave Nov 15. Then every Friday in Dec until Christmas.

Thanks.

Thanks

My son’s application is under review. SAT 1430, GPA 3.7, top Q1, in-state. Applied to Biology and HHS. Good volunteer and leadership in HOSA. What are the chances? How long before they will decide? Texas A&M acceptance was only 2 days once it was under review.

Poundman,
My son has similar numbers as yours, except his weighted GPA is 4.3. When did his A&M go under review? His just went in under review yesterday because the college board took longer than anticipated. I was wondering when he may expect to hear from the school. The school say he may not be reviewed until December 1st. Thanks.

DS’s changed to In Review as soon as transcript was received (which was somehow lost in digital transmission and had to be resent!) He’s not AA. Good luck!

Hi- My son went to tour UT on Monday. A&M had been his #1 choice and now he feels that UT is a better fit for him. He applied on 9/6 and has been in review for awhile as was to be expected.
His chosen major is Engineering. He was academic admit at TAMU but not for UT as he was top 15% but not 6% as seems was the auto admit cutoff this year.
Still waiting on Engineering review for TAMU.
Can anyone shed some realistic insight into his chances for UT?
GPA-4.10
SAT 1410 (730 ERW/680 Math)
top quartertile
Student body president, robotics club president, over a year of working the same after-school job, NHS, International Thespian Society, Three years of acting in all school plays and musicals with lead roles, over 200 volunteer hours,
AP and Honors classes in all subjects possible.

D20 applied on Sunday and today around 7 pm got her auto-admit notification. Even though we still need to hear back on the specific major, she wants to put in her housing application but keeps getting an error message on the housing portal. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hey y’all! I’m applying BA Theatre and Dance, and I was just wondering if I requested an SAT score send before the deadline but they end up sending it after will I still get priority?

My DD was AA and her status changed to “Accepted” 2 weeks ago. We haven’t received anything in the mail yet. Waiting for her “Gone to Texas” banner. Anyone else get theirs yet?

My son is in review since Oct 16, NMSF, SAT 1600, GPA 4.0 UW / 4.82 W, 6.5% from a competitive HS, so he just missed auto admit, OK EC, not a lot leadership, applying for CS, finger crossed! Already admitted at TAMU Engineering / CS.

Anyone think there will be any decisions released this afternoon 11/1?

How do you see the replies

My DD was admitted last month and received a letter but so far no banner. :frowning:

How this can happen? The test score and GPA are so great. why is in 6.5%?

@JonnyF, my son is in a very competitive public high school in Houston, but he attended middle-school overseas. He came back for high school, however, he is required to take four 4-point classes (JROTC, health, spanish 1, and basics of info tech) that he had not taken overseas as prerequisites for high school here, and the rest are all 5-point PreAP or AP class. He got all As but due to the 4 lower level classes, he ranked 49/700. He’s perfect SAT is not surprise for me, as his PSAT is 1500.

I think he could be in the top 10 if he was allowed to skip the four. But there are indeed many very smart kids in this school.

I am impressed by his classmates, too. One is ranked 10th, and from a very rich family. I told my son, he is rich, still work hard, and there is no reason you don’t work hard. The reason I said this is that he plays computer games for a long time when I am not at home, which I don’t like. I have seen many young kids wasted by games, and that really worries me. Will he be OK in college when nobody stops him from games?

My son is a National Merit Semifinalist, Eagle Scout, has worked two jobs, got a perfect SAT, got a 35 on the ACT, and was not only student body president but also president of six other clubs and a varsity football/baseball/track athlete. However he has a 3.2/4.0 scale and is not ranked, I was wondering what his chances of admission were?

He is a really hard worker and had a really good essay (i edited them myself) he also placed in the state meet in track last year. UT is his dream school.

@Okboomer, wow, you son has impressive ECs and leaderships, and I would think he may get a better chance compare to my son. If he has a better GPA, the world is in his hand. If you don’t mind, may I ask, how could he get 3.2/4.0? Too much time spent on EC and less time on classwork?

My son is applying for CS, how about your son?

@Flea68 Thank you for your reply…I’ll keep you updated!
