University of Texas Austin

I'm a mechanical engineering major at Texas A&M right now. I'm paying 14000 a semester as I'm an international student and UT is like 16k a semester..so not a big difference...

I like A&M but College Station is kinda ghost town during holidays as everyone goes back. So I m looking to transfer to UT as its mechanical engineering program is even highly ranked than A&M and its in Austin.

So my question is : Is it worth transferring to UT and leaving back all friends in A&M and start all over again in college life..??
Or is A&M as good as UT and there's no need...
I need views from people who are in UT or A&M.....

and also how much gpa do i need for the transfer?
mine is like 3.5 right now

As a UT alumn I have never heard anyone put down A&M engineering compared to UT. You’ll have to check with UT Engineering to find out gpa requirements. I don’t think there’s any academic reason to transfer. The question is do you want to start over making friends, establishing relationships with professors because of four weeks with no one around?

Save the money and hassle of transferring and use it for a nice vacation between semesters.

UT has one of the top 10 undergrad engineering programs, but if I’m not mistaken, A&M is in the top 20 so there’s not really that big of a difference. Academically there’s not really a reason to transfer.

Do not transfer to UT if the only reason for doing so is because it has slightly more prestige
