Hi can anyone tell me what example topics of leadership would be best for the Powell Scholars Program application essay? They ask the applicants to write a 500 word essay about what leadership experience he/she has. Below, these are the hints they give to the applicants of what could be considered leadership that stands out and what would be more common in the application.

I am the captain of golf, sports medicine, and vice president of earth action...but i'm not the founder of any of these clubs. In what ways can I make my case more appealing and persuasive to the readers?

From the website:
"Any kind of leadership is fine, but some are more common than others.

Common Types of Leadership Experiences: Student Government, Band Leader, Camp Counselor, Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scouts, Eagle Scouts. Note: Students involved in these activities should try to explain the uniqueness of his/her particular experience....how is it different than all of the other student body presidents?
Uncommon: Leader/organizer of club of special cause (Save Darfur, Breast Cancer, etc), Founding of a club, Exceptional research or creative activity."

Thanks.
