I was accepted to University of the Pacific and am considering it. I have a few questions though for those who have attended: How is/was your experience at UOP? How is the music program? Graphic design program?

I constantly hear that there's nothing off-campus and that all the action occurs on campus. I'm aware that the campus is really nice and will visit soon. I also know that the Stockton area isn't the best. Still, I have yet to visit.

For those who have visited, please let me know what you think.

Just bumping this thread. While I’m aware that this school has an obscure name, I’d listen in on any advice you may have.

I myself have not had the UoP experience, but my brother did, so I’ll try to say what I can, based on his experience. In regards to your first question, its music program is pretty top rated, maybe not on the level of Julliard or anything, but still pretty decent. Graphic design… I’m not so sure about, mostly because UoP is a Pharm/Dent school (and music, of course).

And according to my sibling, yes, all/most the action does occur on campus. I mean, there are several places you can hang out at in Stockton, but remember, it’s not exactly the safest place in the world, so going out on a random evening (alone) is basically just a stupid idea. I myself have visited the campus numerous times and I rather like the environment and scene (though, bear in mind that it IS a smaller school). Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response.

Is there anything to do inside the actual campus? - Other than studying. :)

As a native of the Silicon Valley I’m used to having and living in a high-tech society - my private school is all high-tech. I’m wondering if I would be okay, living at UOP. Is the library high-tech?

Visiting the library once or twice, I didn’t get the feel that they were with the cutting edge technology vibe. They provided what students needed (computers, private rooms, etc), but didn’t exactly go out of their way to stay high rise, or what one may call “modern.”

As for activities within the campus, I’ll have to leave that to another more informed poster.

Bear in mind, I was NOT a student there, so please please please take my words with a grain of salt and I ask you to first visit and tour the college before making your decision.

I will be visiting within this week to get a feel of the school. Hope it’s as good as I expect!

Anyone else?
