Anyone applied for the Lester b Pearson scholarship?
Hi guys! I am a student from Thailand (Canadian citizen). I have a 34 predicted and I applied to UTSC in late January and my application was complete on Feb 14. The status of my application shows “under review” and I am still waiting for the decision. I want to know what do you guys think if I have chances or not? I got an email yesterday saying that the first round of admission has already past and I will be considered for the other rounds. When are the other rounds (everyone says different things) so I want to make it clear. Thanks.
@karinaaa actually I was talking about them asking to submit a document on the portal before this. Majorly because most of the people I know that didn’t get a decision did not because some document or the other was missing. I got a comment on my portal in Feb to re upload a document. That makes me wonder whether the same was your case.
@MagonRay Yeah, I received a similar message at the beginning of January which is probs why I wasn’t given an offer in the first round.
@karinaaa @MagonRay @123bob123 I asked the admissions office and apparently it is not a deferral. I also received a notification to upload a document at the end of January so due to the timing we weren’t supposed to receive our decision this round anyway. Essentially, the largest wave is at the end of March and most people are supposed to get their decison then (the ones that received their decisions probably submitted the application very early).
Also, a few remaining decisions are mailed out in May, but those are not nearly as many as the second march wave (the biggest).
@Vikarious Thanks for letting us know here. Hopefully, we’ll hear in about 2 weeks! Let us know when you hear back
My status still says that they received my online student profile and that they will review my application in the coming weeks. I’ve had this status on my portal for around 2 months now and I’m not sure what to make of it…
@Samster5400 Same here for my son ever since December. Hopefully we hear good news next week when they start to release the second wave. Keep hanging in there
The University places lot of importance on mid term results. My son was in a similar situation and his application had been reviewed and posted for April review. Bit within two days of uploading his mid term results, the status changed to Application under review and then to-Decision pending. He finally received the offer end Feb. So if you have the mid term results please post. All the best!
My daughter was asked for all kinds of extra documents, and her online profile says “application under review”. I really don’t like the way they do this compared to the US colleges which have a more set date when you can expect to hear. It’s nerve wracking. My daughter applied to a US college and was accepted in 3 days. U of T has had her application since Nov 30.
Engineering 2nd round Decisions started coming up yesterday for 101 applicants on their Join UoT portal. Engineering portal is still to be updated next week. Did any 105 get any update on any of the portals?
Sadly nothing yet.
Hi guys! So I am an international student and have applied to engineering science as my first choice and life science as my second. So my engineering science status have been showing ‘Application received’ until now but my life science status shows ‘Application under review’ for about a few weeks. I just received an email from u of t saying that the first round of offer has been sent out and that I haven’t received one does it mean that I got rejected?
My AS 4As
Predicted A level results 1A* and 3As
SAT 1360(620 reading and 740 math)
SPM(equivalent to GCE O levels) 9A+ 2A
Hey @Blablablablah, if you read previously on this forum, many people are in the same boat as you. When did you submit your required documents?
@FirstCollegeDad I’m a 105 but did not get an update on my portal as of yet
I got in the second round yesterday for Computer Engineering.
My average is low 90s. (Have no idea how I got in).
Once you are admitted, your engineering portal should contain a Letter of Offer, and a message saying you are admitted.
From what I heard, many people got in with mid to high 90s to Computer/Electrical Engineering and EngSci, however, a select lucky few (inc myself) got in with quite a low average.
Also, apparently they are doing rolling round acceptances now, so don’t fear if you did not receive one yesterday.
I will add however I am a domestic 101 student.
Good Luck to all!
Thanks a lot. I submit my document close to the deadline as I received my AS results on 10th of January but my SAT results arrived on 22th of January.
I’m wondering if my SAT results will pull my chances down as my SAT results weren’t competitive at all. I’m from a A Level school, so my A Level results should be mainly considered right?
Samee! I’m in A levels as well and submitted my AS results late, but don’t worry I’m sure its gonna be alright
@daisyduck may I know your AS grades and also which program are you applying to?
