university of Toronto, not sure where to post this

Hi! I’ve posted this in college admissions but i don’t know if that is the correct place… i need some answers asap as my deadline to accept my offer is coming up, so here it goes.
I was admitted into university of toronto for comp sci and have a few questions.
Is it well known down in the USA? I want to work for microsoft or google, or other big tech firms- heard anyone from uoft working there?
is it well respected in the states?
thanks!

The U of Toronto is the number one ranked university in Canada. Period. When multinational recruiters come to Canada, do you think they will bypass u of T for the second, third, fourth ranked university there or ignore the entire country of Canada’s elite graduates in favor of American graduates?

Actually, I disagree with @Leyland. U of T and McGill seem to be the best known schools in Canada among the general population of the US, but in terms of recruiting from Microsoft, Google etc., Waterloo does a lot better.

That being said, you’re not going to have any trouble making it to Microsoft etc. coming from U of T either, as long as you work hard to distinguish yourself. There is quite a bit of grade deflation at U of T, so you’ll have to contend with that though.

So do tens of thousands of other graduates, what will set you apart from the rest?
