University of Toronto Tuition for International Applicant

Hi, I’m an international applicant applying from the U.S.
There are a lot of sources that say U of T’s price is around 20,000-30,000 USD but on their website (http://www.provost.utoronto.ca/link/students/fees17/intl_as.htm), Arts and Sciences is around $45,000 a year.

This link says it’s “(~US$10,730) per year” http://www.topuniversities.com/student-info/student-finance/how-much-does-it-cost-study-canada

while this one says it’s around 18,000 http://www.schoolsincanada.com/Tuition-Fees-For-Undergraduate-International-Students.cfm

I’m not quite sure which one is which. Are the sources I mentioned above somehow outdated? Does that mean U of T is really 45,000 a year for an international applicant? The only reason I was considering applying internationally is that Toronto is comparable to top public universities such as UCLA, Mich, UNC, but also cheaper. Thanks!

I think you’re forgetting the exchange rate between the USD and CAD. Total COA is 70k CAD which is about 50k USD.

The top universities link says that tuition at Canadian schools starts at $10730. It doesn’t mention U of T.

The schoolsincanada link lists the minimum annual tuition. The amount it gives in the table is roughly the annual tuition for theology.

Each program at U of T has different tuition fees. These fees go up each year. The fees can be greatly different between the first and second years of the programs as well. The information in your first link is correct.

@bouders so is the price already converted to USDA or is it in CAD?

@ambitiousgeek It’s in CAD.

Thank you!!

The actual university website is the valid source of information. These other websites are often way out of date or simply wrong.

Canadian school use international students as a major source of revenue.

What international students are complaining about UofT now is that their tuition for internationals keep going up each year. I think they are pricing themselves out of the market.

U of T is still a lot cheaper than US schools of a similar calibre. Applications from internationals are growing each year. They have a long way to go before they price themselves out of the market.

According to the information I was able to find, it appears that as students complete each year they are eligible for more scholarships from their college based on their performance. If I’m interpreting that right, then your cost may actually go down each year. Can anyone respond to this and let me know if that is indeed the case?

My S just got accepted to Victoria College with a $7500 per year scholarship towards tuition… if only we were Canadian because that would be full tuition…

Victoria College students are guaranteed an in-course scholarship of up to $1000 if they get a GPA of 3.5 or greater. Tuition for internationals rises by about $1800/year.

However, I found this

@bouders Thanks for the link.
I’ve been perusing the virtual tours and it’s such a beautiful school with what seems like a true plethora of opportunities. I really think my S will be thrilled about all of the interdisciplinary and seminar style courses.

A very exciting time, for sure.

@aimster888 Congrats to your son on Vic! It’s a great college and it has more scholarship $$ available than any other U of T college.

@alwaysamom Thank you. We are planning another visit in the next month or two. I didn’t get to go the first time and I’m excited to see it. We live in Rochester, NY so it’s fairly close.
