My son, an american, has been considering applying to school in Canada.

He would likely study English/Political Science/Economics

Any insights as to the pros and cons re: Toronto vs. Mcgill would be appreciated, both from an academic standpoint, and a general "living/fun" standpoint.

Also, I would appreciate it if you could "chance him" at both schools, if you have some real knowledge with respect to how american applicants fare at these schools.

It seems that McGill is the more popular school, given the lack of activity on the CC websight for University of Toronto, but the schools appear to be similarly ranked.

SATs:

800 CR
800 writing
700 math

ACT: 34

unweighted gpa 3.6 (maybe 3.7)
weighted gpa 4.3 (maybe 4.4)

He is in the top 5% of his high school class (barely, by 2 people)

He takes all AP courses, and so far, has gotten four 5's, two 4's, and two 3's

His ECs are not strong, which is one of the reasons he is looking at Canada. (because we understand they basically just go by test scores and gpa, and not ECs)
