Does anybody know what the University of Utah’s national rank is for their undergraduate business program? I looked on the US News College Rankings site, where it’s a locked stat. Unfortunately, my subscription recently expired.
A couple of questions. Did any of you receive interview invitations for the eccles scholarships? I assume they went out, but I guess we had hoped to have my son would receive one so I was wondering if they have gone out and if so, were they emailed or mailed?
Second, we were a little surprised that he didn’t get the presidential scholarship. But are wondering what the stats seem to be for that for in state candidates. He has 4.0 UW GPA, Class rank of 1, 34 ACT, 6 AP classes, multiple concurrent enrollment, tons of extracurriculars/leadership and awards.
Thanks for any tips…
@collegemama321 Eccles interviews were last week (and perhaps first half of this week too). IIRC the invites were by email and I believe they were sent about 3 weeks ago before spring break.
Not sure on the in-state Presidential cutoff. I’m pretty sure OOS requires a 36, and I thought in-state was 34, but maybe it went up or wasn’t automatic at 34 this year.
@twoin18 Were they sent to regular email or u-mail for Eccles interviews?
It’s disappointing on the cutoffs. I thought 34 would be in the range for presidential. Wondering what he could have done differently on the application. Also do you know, is it purely ACT/GPA or do they factor in extra curriculars/leadership/awards at all?
@collegemama321 I’m afraid I don’t remember how the interview invites were sent (my D applied last year), I think regular email but am not certain.
My impression is that the automatic scholarships were very much based on scores (more ACT than GPA), whereas Eccles shortlisting is holistic with an attempt to find a class with a mix of backgrounds, majors and geographies (about half in state and half out of state). But I’m only going off my D’s experience and she is out of state.
