I am an accepted student at the University of Vermont and I have an EFC of 0. My GPA is at 87/100 with 6 AP classes and my ACT is a 30. I cannot afford the school with the trustees scholarship and they have given me all that they can in financial need. How can I solve this? Its my top school.
It is very hard to go to a school you can’t afford by borrowing the first year or even getting a one year scholarship. It gets harder and harder to afford the following years. A friend’s child went to UVM and in the end it cost a lot more than they had planned, which means the student’s loans are higher and the parent borrowed more from a 401k than she had planned.
Slippery slope.
If the school has given you all the money they can give you…and it’s still not affordable…you need to move on.
