ill see if my child will look again. I don;t know if she had tabs opened up.
Does anyone not see the “accept admission”?
I don’t think so. I went and looked at last years 2020 thread and they were talking about the same issue too, and Dean J came and said it was nothing.
I really don’t think it is anything. Decisions will hopefully be out by the end of this week. Perhaps Friday…but given it is inauguration day, maybe Thursday!
I don’t see the accept admission thing
EDIT: nevermind I see it now
Do you think we will get an physical acceptance letter through the mail or get an SIS email first? I’m not sure if I should be on the lookout for a large envelope or an email from admissions to tell me my decision. I’ve heard mixed opinions but if somebody could clarify that would be great
@doglover02 SIS is the first place where we’ll find out about our decisions.
@teddyh we don’t have the view decision button to even get to the accept admission tab, so looks like a bad sign for us, good sign for those of you who have it. After log in, the page that opens says “Welcome _ - myEvents, etc.”. Where is the view decision on your page there, beneath the “My Interests” section on the bottom? Or where? Thanks for anyone’s reply to this!
Login to the SIS, not MyUVA. I think that is why people are seeing different things, and being driven crazy.
When I log into SIS and click on View Decision, it says.
“Admission decisions are not available at this time. Please check back on January 31, 2017.”
So it may be a good sign for those who have Accept Admission. Or am I looking in the wrong place?
@ComeonRice! You are correct, that’s what it says on the page. But look above (far right top on my computer) to the tab label which says “Accept Admission”.
@rschmied Thank you! We never received the SIS login email, hence my confusion. All set up with an SIS log in now thanks to you!
Folks, remember that SIS is a system that we use at UVA for student records. You can see things that pertain to enrolled students because that’s the primary user of the system. The admission module PeopleSoft built for their system wasn’t tailored for UVA’s process (customizing a records system is way beyond our budget), so there are elements that aren’t quite right for us, but they remain there.
We’ve been using this system since 2008. Every single year, students think they’ve figured out a way to see their decisions. Your decisions letters aren’t even in the system yet. On the day that the Dean says we are ready to release, the IT people will run a bunch of scripts to load the decision letters into your accounts.
We’re still working. We had a bit of a jump in applications, so there is more work to do than in past years. I assure you that we will release the decisions when we are done. We do not hold decisions to prolong this process. After all, notification day is a fun day for us! We get to see happy faces on social media, which is a nice boost as we head into the RD review.
@deanj is the best! Any chance you can be cloned and distributed to every school so that they, too, will be as forthright and transparent as UVA admissions?
Uh oh. From Dean J’s response about “a bit of a jump in applications”, sounds like decisions might not be this week.
FWIW, the 2016 EA release date was Thursday January 21.
2015 was Friday 1/23.
I just accessed my SIS account for the first time. It says that my application is incomplete?! Is that the case for most people? Maybe it is because my mid-year grades haven’t been sent in
@northwesty and 2014 was Friday January 17th (31st was a Friday) It has been the last few years 2 Fridays before the 31st, except last year on a Thursday ( I think a snow storm was coming). I suspect that we could hear as early as this Friday, Jan 20…but then again maybe because of the inauguration they will release on Thursday? And then again, @deanj said a bit of a jump in applications so more work. I guess we all know it will be soon! This is all such an exciting time. Not like when I attended UVA and I had to wait for the thick or thin envelope in the mail. Luckily I received the thick one and had the chance to attend UVA. Best years of my life!!!
Hmmmm on my to-do list it says I have to do the Mid Year Grade Report which is due 2/14/17… any idea of what this could mean?
@stern2021 are you EA? As dean J has said before, I don’t think there will be any hints or glitches on the SIS. I think everyone has that left on their “to do” list??
@stern2021 That has been on my dd’s page for a while now…means nothing…
