So ive read that the university's undergraduate business programs at the McIntire School of Commerce, or the Darden School of Business, are only 2 years long. Does that mean that after your sophmore year, you need to apply to the business program, even though youre already in the university? What are the chances of getting in? What should i do if i didnt get it, but i still wanted to study business?

You are correct that McIntire is a two year program that you apply to once you are in your second year at the university. There are many pre-req’s that you must take your first two years. Many students that are not accepted to McIntire major in economics. Darden is exclusively post graduate education (MBA, PhD, Executive Education).

The following page will give you an idea of the historical data regarding acceptance rates for students applying as second year students (ie not transfer students). Keep in mind this is a self selecting group of applicants as students that do not have a good chance of being seriously considered often do not go thought the steps of applying.

If you have further questions that are not addressed on the link above it may be helpful to post them in the UVa forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable people who are happy to help. Best of luck!
