So I've received acceptances to my top schools, and now I can't decide which to choose. It's between University of Washington and Reed College. I'm 75% sure I want to be a Physician's Assistant, and I know UW is great for anything med-related. But I visited Reed, and it just feels so much more homey and cozy than UW, where I guess I'm comfortable being just a face in the crowd because of its ridiculous size. But Reed is exciting, and I love their way of doing school (conferences, discussion everywhere, focus on critical thinking, professors engaged). I'm having a really hard time deciding and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me?

What would you study at each of the two schools?

If you research the differences between LACs and Research U’s in terms of classroom experience, access to profs, etc., your decision will be clear.

Some people get tired of a small school after a year or two, while some don’t.
Some don’t get involved enough in big schools to make them “small” while others make the UW more personal by getting involved. Some love the big school elements like the beautiful buildings, school spirit at games and the opportunities no matter what your major ends up being. I think knowing what kind of size you want would be a big deciding factor. I came from a tiny high school and went to UW and loved it. I needed to get to a big place that lots of choices and opportunities. However, if I hadn’t had the experience of being tired of a tiny school, I might have been more interested in small colleges.

Go where the money is.
If money isn’t an issue, it sounds like you already love Reed.

You want to feel comfortable at your college. Go with Reed.

@rhg3rd Physician Assisting at each, but I’m thinking something along the lines of behavioral biology, or psych.

Thanks all, this helps :)

OP, physician assisting is a part of clinic medicine. It is taught only at medical schools and generally as part of a masters degree program. Reed is a traditional liberal arts college. You would have to major in biology, psychology or other arts and science major at Reed and then go to grad school. There are no physician assisting courses at Reed. There is a physician assistant studies masters degree program at OHSU in Portland.
