Which University of Washington?

If Seattle, then yes. Though the incoming freshman GPA is 3.75, I had a 3.54 with much lower GPA/SAT and got accepted. I’m not even a minority. I’ve had a couple different people comment on how I shouldn’t have gotten in, so I may have just gotten really really lucky.

My latina DD was accepted in UW, but we couldn’t afford it.

It is a public university, so OOS fees are expensive if you are not a resident. If you get financial aid, it would not cover OOS fees.

I think you have a very good chance at admission, but the costs will be expensive.

OOS admission is harder, but your very good ACT may overshadow your lower than average GPA, so I think UW should be a match for you. If you can pick up a Purple and Gold Scholarship, which is awarded to about half of admitted freshmen, it will help cut into the extra OOS tuition:

Tuition, room and board is about $23K instate and $45K OOS. For comparison, at UC, it is closer to about $28K instate and $52K OOS.

They are building a very cool life sciences building at UW: http://www.biology.washington.edu/life-sciences-complex

Good luck!

I got in with not as good stats, that being said, I don’t think they factor gender or race into the decision.
