Just applied to University of Washington (Seattle Campus) and was wondering if I have a slight chance at getting in. I know I am in the lower group for statistics and scores but I think I still have a chance. Also, if anyone could give some hope and mention they’re accepted stats, that would be great!
I am out of state
Unweighted GPA: 3.45
Weighted GPA: 3.6
ACT: 26
of AP Classes: 3 junior year, 4 senior year
EC’s:
Eagle Scout
Started my own business selling my surf photography at local farmers market
Varsity Sports
Job as bagger as well as babysitter on weekends to save up for business
May I just say that my stats are worse than everyone’s on here and the University of Washington’s admissions process is really weird because some people with 4.3 GPA’s and 32’s on their ACT get denied but people with 3.5 GPA’s get accepted. So this is kind of a rant post but literally it doesn’t matter about stats for the UW. What matters is your essay and your EC’s. Yes obviously UW will look at your scores and GPA but what makes you or breaks you is your essay, like literally I’m not even kidding. If you have a 4.9 GPA and your essay is bad, they’ll deny you. If you have a 3.0 GPA and your essay is absolutely heartwarming and magnificent, they’ll accept you.
I’ve posted chances threads in the past but I’ve realized that everyone on here isn’t an admissions officer. People have told me “ya UW is your reach school” like no you don’t know that.
Fun fact: People who currently attend UW (got accepted last year, most competitive year), told me that I’ll be accepted, but people who are applying this year told me I won’t be accepted.
Anyways, it’s not about stats, it’s about your EC’s and your essays, they want to know who you are and what you do at school and outside of school.
LOL Thank you, I felt like I was being so rude but it depresses me because everyone on the UW threads post how they have 3.9 GPA’s and 32’s on their ACT’s and they have the audacity to ask if they’re getting in. Think how I feel, I got a 21 on my ACT and I have a 3.56 GPA and no AP classes.
