University of Washington or BU for computer engineering

I am an international student from Russia. Could you kindly help me to choose the college? Please justify your choice. :)

I would choose the University of Washington in a heart beat. It’s one of the top universities in the field and it’s located in Seattle, which is one of the main tech hubs in the US. That gives you convenient access to internships while in college, and many employers will be recruiting local UW graduates for full-time employment. It helps that UW is the best university in the region. In contrast, Boston employers looking for talent will most likely be recruiting at MIT or Harvard rather than at BU.

Competition for the top jobs is an important consideration for international students in particular. Work visa sponsorship is expensive for an employer and a bureaucratic nightmare too. It’s much easier to hire domestic college graduates for entry-level jobs, especially if the employer doesn’t care to hire the single best candidate on the market. (e.g. the kind of employer likely to hire from BU rather than MIT because BU graduates will be working for a lower wage than MIT graduates)

^I totally agree. U Washington in a heartbeat if you’ve been admitted to the CS major. It’s heavily recruited and very prestigious. However if you’ve not been admitted to the major, be aware it’s super competitive, with the best students competing for places and only 30% making it.
What about costs - are they different? Can you afford both?
