Hey guys, so I’ve visited both schools and loved them! I’m going to be doing pre-med (100% sure that’s not going to change), and I’m really having a hard time deciding between the two schools. One major deciding factor is competitiveness. I’ve heard that Washington, because of it’s large asian/international student population, has really harsh grading curves and it’s very competitive to get that high GPA. I’ve also heard that many professors can be into research and not care much about students. The pros, however, are that it is in a diverse and dynamic city of Seattle, and it’s awesome for research opportunities.
As for Wisconsin Madison, I felt that it had a more laid back environment, and might be less competitive overall. It’s a great college town and has a great amount of support and research opportunities, but I’m not sure how I like the party scene, as well as the lack of diversity it has.
So I guess my question is- what do you all think? Do you think that Washington is cut throat competitive as most people say it is? And do you think that Wisconsin Madison (being seemingly less competitive), is a better way for me to get into medical school as a result?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
