I applied to the University of Washington a few months ago and typed in all of my classes and grades on the application. The school recently emailed me and asked for an official transcript based on their preliminary review of my application. Does that mean they are interested in me as an applicant?
They need the transcript for your application file to be complete. If they don’t get it they don’t consider you.
Agree with above. It says nothing about the school’s interest in your. It means that your official transcript is a necessary part of your application and its absence was noted in the preliminary review. If the official transcript is not received the school will not complete the review process and you will not be considered for admission. I strongly suggest you have the transcript sent from your school ASAP,.

- Send transcripts?
U.S. students
Do not send high school or college transcripts until you receive a request from the Office of Admissions. The application asks you to provide a detailed account of your academic coursework, and that’s all we need to review your application.
Applicants who are admitted and who confirm their intention to enroll at the UW will be required to send a final high school transcript. At that time, the admissions staff will verify that all admission requirements have been satisfied, and the offer of admission will be withdrawn if important discrepancies are discovered.
Final college transcripts are also required for applicants who attended college.
International students
International students must upload transcripts at the time of application or have your high school send transcripts electronically.
UW does not release admissions decisions until the last two weeks of March. Perhaps they are making a preliminary check to confirm whether the courses you entered in your application satisfy all of the admission requirements.
Good luck!
