University of Washington @ Seattle

Hi, im applying to university of washington at seattle (and i live all the way in Boston)
so i dont know a lot of things about it.

I want to do International Business at their business school.

Can you can tell me about how their academics are?
how the students are, what ppl do in their free time
and if the weather is as cloudy as people say?
is a nice college?

I’m an alum from many years ago, so I can’t tell you much about current academics. I believe that the business school is pretty well-regarded.

It’s impossible to categorize the students. Seattle is a highly diverse city, and UW is even more so. It’s a big school, so no matter your interests, personality, politics, ethnicity, orientation – you’ll find like-minded students. Despite its size, students make their own small communities in the dorms and/or classes.

What do people do in their spare time? Anything and everything. UW has big-time varsity sports, if you’re a fan, and alot of intramural sports as well. There are winter-sports resorts about an hour away from campus, if you like skiing/boarding. Student clubs, concerts, lectures. There is a thriving Greek community, although they do not dominate campus life. UW has an Experimental College, which offers inexpensive, not-for-credit courses on everything from calligraphy to conversation skills to massage.

UW is adjacent to the lively U District which has lots of retail and restaurants. Many of the city’s best attractions are an easy bus ride away – downtown, Pike Place Market (home of the Starbucks flagship store), Seattle Center, and the waterfront.

The weather – Seattle actually gets about the same amount of rain as Boston, and less snow. I won’t lie, there are alot of gray days there, but a sunny day in Seattle is glorious.

I loved my 4 years there. UW is never boring, and as a bonus, is a fantastically beautiful campus.

Any one knows what is the status of the new facilities planned for the Foster School of Business. Has they started on the construction yet?
