So far, I got into Penn State. I haven't heard back from UW yet, but IF I do get in, I was wondering which is better in terms of academics. I plan on majoring in Communications, specifically Broadcast Journalism/Advertising and I might minor in Film studies or English. I was wondering which of these two schools is best for that? I live in Seattle by the way so I already know all about the area and campus. I haven't been to State College yet but I plan on visiting this spring break. Money is currently not an issue since my grandparents will be helping me. I know it's kind of early since I haven't heard from UW yet, but I was wondering which is best for me based on what I want to study. Thanks.

I wouldn’t think that there’d be any basis for picking one over the other on the basis of academics. Certainly, the setting between Seattle and State College, PA is very different - I’d think you might have a distinct preference for one over the other.

In my humble opinion you have missed the boat on this one because you overlooked the best communications school in the northwest and one of the best in the nation: Washington State University (the Edward R. Murrow School).

What was it that made you apply to PSU in the first place?

Why pay OOS tuition at Penn State when you are in-state at UDub?

“Money is not an issue…”

Change of scenery/people can be interesting.

@gadad, Yeah I’m definitely going to have to visit PA and see which environment will suit me better.

@LakeWashington, I decided not to apply to WSU because of the area. I absolutely dislike Pullman…and I’m a Husky fan lol.

@1moremom, I applied to Penn State because a lot of people reccomended it to me if I wanted to go out of state. After some research, PSU seems to have a lot of great programs.

@goblue, Yes, that’s what I’m asking myself but the question was if there is any advantage over the other in terms of academics.
