University of Washington Withdrawl of Offer of Admission Appeal

Hey everyone I am brand new to the forum and had a quick question for anyone with some knowledge or experience when it comes to withdrawals of offers of admission for poor senior year performance.

So basically I was a 3.85 student with a bunch of honors/AP credits applied UW and got in a few weeks after applying. My second semester of senior year I completely tanked struggling with family issues and depression bringing my cum gpa down to a 3.3 and even failing a spanish class (not needed for graduation). so they rescinded my admission, but I am allowed to appeal the decision bearing special circumstances. I wrote a well thought out 3 page letter appealing the decision explaining the circumstances and talked about the issues surrounding my performance. I sent the letter in this week but apparanently it could be 3-4 weeks before they review appeals, so if anyone could shed some light onto my chances of a successful/unsuccessful appeal please do so.

Thanks in advance!

Did they rescind just because of (unneeded) Spanish? Your cum GPA isn’t that bad.

What did the letter say?

I don’t know what your chances are, but I would try to visit in person and see if they would admit me on academic probation (meaning that if your grades are low the first semester, you’re out).

thanks for the reply

it was basically a one page letter informing me that they had withdrawn my offer to attend next fall after review of my final transcript. quoted “Your final transcript showed in the second semester you recived a C in social studies, D in English, Statistics, and Physics, as well as failing Spanish” “if you believe you have a compelling reason to request reconsideration of this decision, please explain why in a letter of appeal”

also I called in asking about appealing in person and it has to be formally written out. Also I would assume that if they allow me back in I would be on grade probation regardless
